Job DescriptionSalary: $20/hr

Honey Veil is a matcha, coffee, and bakery caf focused on quality products and consistent service. We are seeking a Shift Supervisor who leads with intention, supports the team during service, and ensures each shift meets operational, quality, and hospitality standards.

This role is hands-on and leadership-driven, with accountability for both guest experience and day-to-day execution.


What Youll Do

Lead the Shift

  • Serve as the on-duty leader, ensuring smooth, organized, and efficient service
  • Set the tone through calm leadership, clear communication, and presence on the floor
  • Delegate breaks strategically to maintain coverage while supporting team wellbeing
  • Adjust the plan in real time based on volume, staffing, and operational needs

Beverage & Bakery Execution

  • Prepare and serve matcha, espresso-based beverages, and specialty drinks to Honey Veil standards
  • Oversee packing, plating, and presentation of baked goods

Guest Experience

  • Deliver warm, attentive, and genuine hospitality
  • Resolve guest concerns promptly and professionally
  • Maintain a clean, welcoming, and visually aligned caf environment

Operational Responsibilities

  • Execute opening and/or closing procedures accurately and on time
  • Manage cash handling, drawer counts, and POS accuracy
  • Maintain cleanliness, food safety, and organization standards throughout the shift

Team Support & Training

  • Coach baristas in real time, reinforcing standards and best practices
  • Support onboarding and training of new team members
  • Communicate priorities and expectations clearly during service

Inventory & Standards

  • Monitor inventory levels and product availability during shifts
  • Report shortages, waste, or equipment issues to management
  • Ensure all tools, equipment, and stations are set up for success


Performance Metrics & Expectations

Shift Supervisors are expected to meet the following standards consistently:

Day Planning & Break Management

  • Each shift begins with a clear plan for stations, prep, and priorities
  • Breaks are scheduled and delegated fairly, legally, and with minimal service disruption
  • Staffing coverage is maintained at all times during service

Service & Quality

  • Maintain drink accuracy and recipe adherence across all beverages
  • Ensure bakery items are plated and presented to standard
  • Minimize remakes and product waste

Guest Experience

  • Support smooth service flow with minimal wait times during peak periods
  • Handle guest feedback calmly and professionally
  • Maintain a positive, grounded atmosphere during busy periods

Operational Accuracy

  • Zero cash handling discrepancies or clearly documented resolutions
  • Opening and closing checklists completed fully and on time
  • POS transactions processed accurately and efficiently

Team Leadership

  • Provide clear direction and support throughout the shift
  • Model reliability, punctuality, and accountability
  • Foster teamwork, respect, and consistent standards

Cleanliness & Organization

  • Caf, bar, bakery, and back-of-house areas meet cleanliness standards at all times
  • Stations remain stocked, organized, and service-ready


What Were Looking For

  • Prior barista experience required; leadership experience preferred
  • Strong interest in matcha, specialty coffee, and bakery operations
  • Ability to plan ahead, delegate effectively, and adapt in real time
  • Calm, confident leadership style with a hospitality-first mindset
  • Reliable, detail-oriented, and comfortable owning the success of a shift
  • Availability for mornings, weekends, and holidays
