Job Description

Job DescriptionPosition Summary

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) supports providers in delivering high-quality patient care in a busy Ear, Nose, and Throat (ENT) outpatient clinic. This role is responsible for assisting with clinical procedures, patient intake, documentation, and coordination of care to ensure an excellent patient experience.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Support & Patient Care

  • Perform patient intake including vital signs, medical history, and medication reconciliation

  • Prepare patients for examinations, procedures, and minor in-office treatments

  • Assist ENT physicians and audiologists with clinical procedures such as:

    • Ear cleanings and irrigations

    • Allergy testing and injections

    • Nasal endoscopy preparation

    • Post-operative follow-up care

Documentation & Communication

  • Accurately document patient information in the electronic medical record (EMR)

  • Communicate patient concerns, symptoms, and clinical updates to providers

  • Provide patient education regarding medications, treatments, and post-procedure instructions

Medication & Treatment Administration

  • Administer medications and injections as ordered (within LPN scope of practice)

  • Monitor patients for adverse reactions, especially during allergy immunotherapy

  • Ensure proper storage, labeling, and handling of medications and supplies

Care Coordination

  • Assist with scheduling follow-up appointments and coordinating referrals

  • Support pre-authorizations for ENT-related procedures or testing

  • Collaborate with front office staff to ensure smooth patient flow

Infection Control & Safety

  • Maintain a clean and safe clinical environment

  • Sterilize instruments and follow infection prevention protocols

  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, HIPAA, and clinic policies

Qualifications

Required

  • Current LPN license in the state of practice

  • Graduation from an accredited practical nursing program

  • Strong clinical and interpersonal skills
