With over 60 years of service to the community as the premier imaging center in Tallahassee, we continue to grow and thrive. We are seeking a Registered Nurse to join our growing team. This is a full time, benefits-eligible position.

This position includes:

  • Excellent health coverage (CHP) with low monthly employee premiums
  • 10.3% 401K/Pension contribution with no match requirements
  • 23 days of paid time off accrued during first year of employment
  • 45% shift differential for hours after 6pm
  • 50% shift differential for weekend hours

The hours for this position are Full Time, Monday-Friday 12pm-8pm. Occassional Saturdays may be required.


GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES:

Responsible for providing professional nursing care to patients in the various sections of Radiology Associates and Tallahassee Diagnostic Imaging.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Oversees and assists in the preparation of patients for their respective exams.
  • Demonstrates an ability to effectively assess the patient’s needs prior to and after their interventional procedure, and performs all pre and post procedural teaching necessary.
  • Schedules all Interventional procedures and obtains all necessary documentation prior to appointment.
  • Explains procedures to patients in a clear and precise manner to guarantee the understanding of the procedure that they are having performed and answering all questions and concerns that the patient may have prior to their study.
  • Reads patient notes, follow patient safety screening instructions, and prepares a plan of care/action if there are possible contraindications for the performance of their procedures.
  • Maintains accurate, objective, and comprehensive documentation on the patient’s interventional medical record.
  • Reports any deviation in care or problem with the patient to the attending radiologist(s) or appropriate health care provider.
  • Responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, quiet, restful and attractive environment in the interventional area.
  • Performs IV access on patients as required in all Radiology Associates’ sections.
  • Responsible for administering annual PPDs and maintaining pertaining records for all employees.
  • Maintains all crash carts (i.e., check drug quantities, dates, strengths, etc.) in the Radiology Associates physical plant.
  • Responsible for in-service programs directed toward patient care, infection control, JCAHO, and OSHA guidelines, etc.
  • Records and follows up on all incident reports, and implement training programs to resolve occurring incidents as needed.
  • Performs In-Service and training of all Radiology Associates personnel in emergent management of all patients during adverse events.
  • Participate in all emergency events that occur in all areas of the Radiology Associates facility.
  • Implement QA/QI programs and provide appropriate feedback and implement plan of action to address any negative results.
  • Liaison between clinical support staff and technical staff in the establishment and implementation of plans of care and action plans.
  • Additional nursing duties deemed necessary for the operation of Radiology Associates as determined by the Radiology Associates administrative committee.




Requirements:

EDUCATION:

High school degree or equivalent. Graduation from an approved school of nursing.

Licensed by the State of Florida as a Registered Nurse. Current BLS and ACLS certification. (Must be obtained prior to employment, or not less than 3 months after employment).


EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum of two years experience as a Registered Nurse required.
  • Two years of critical care or interventional radiology experience preferred.


KNOWLEDGE:

  • Knowledge of basic nursing principles and protocols.
  • Knowledge of policies and procedures related to infection control, environmental safety and patient confidentiality.
  • Knowledge of OSHA regulations.
  • Knowledge of ACLS protocols


SKILLS:

  • Able to assess and assist during interventional radiology procedures.
  • Recognition and treatment of an emergent event/ deteriorating patient.
  • Recognition and treatment of allergic/ anaphylactic reactions.
  • Proficient in intravenous access skills (including ports, PICC lines and peripheral IVs).
  • General knowledge in computer systems.
  • Ability to work effectively as team members with physicians and other staff.




PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS:

Combination of standing 6-8 hours per day, walking, bending, reaching, lifting and transferring activities. Must be able to use correct body mechanics to assist patients appropriately. Occasional stress from multiple requests. May be required to use personal vehicle for short distance travel between work sites.



ENVIRONMENTAL/WORKING CONDITIONS:

Sometimes works in close quarters. Exposure to communicable diseases, body fluids, and other conditions common to radiology office settings.
