Job Description
The Pharmacy Technician is responsible for responding to inbound and outbound calls to customers while ensuring a high level of customer service and maximizing productivity. They will engage in direct in-person and phone-based customer interactions to answer and resolve a wide variety of inquiries related to pharmacy services, delivery inquiries, refill calls, and pharmacy assistance calls. The role involves providing information to customers regarding products, services, and timeliness of receipt of goods and services, as well as resolving customer complaints. Responsibilities include receiving and processing new pharmacy referrals, verifying insurance coverage, facilitating prior authorization requests, transcribing prescriptions accurately, generating reports, coordinating delivery, and serving as the first point of contact for service-related inquiries.
Responsibilities
- Respond to inbound and outbound calls with a focus on high-level customer service.
- Interact with customers to address inquiries regarding pharmacy services.
- Resolve customer complaints and answer questions related to delivery inquiries.
- Process new pharmacy referrals and verify insurance coverage.
- Facilitate prior authorization requests and transcribe prescriptions accurately.
- Generate reports following the cycle fill calendar and manage refill requests.
- Coordinate delivery and serve as the first point of contact for service-related inquiries.
- Support pharmacological services by editing fill list verification, including insurance information.
- Update patient information when necessary and maintain patient records according to HIPAA regulations.
Essential Skills
- Valid Florida Pharmacy Technician License
- Completion of a board-approved pharmacy technician-training program
- 2+ years of experience in a medical insurance/billing/customer service environment
- Advanced skill in Microsoft Office Suite
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Pharmacy technician certification
- Experience with Microsoft Excel and Access
- Data entry and DME experience
- Telephonic customer service experience
- Bilingual in English and Spanish
- Prior authorization experience
- Willingness to learn new computer software
- Strong commitment to customer service
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Teamwork, punctuality, organization, time management, and problem-solving skills
Work Environment
This position is 100% onsite in a Specialty pharmacy in Plantation, FL, with a planned relocation to Miami Gardens in Q1 of 2026. The role operates in a high-volume filling environment, handling 100-150 scripts per pharmacy team per day. The team includes three technicians and one pharmacist. Working hours are Monday through Thursday, with Fridays ending at 12:30 pm, including a one-hour unpaid lunch break. Employees have the flexibility to shorten their lunch to maximize pay. The company offers a family-oriented culture with the potential to become a permanent employee, up to 8% 401k match, tuition forgiveness, and six paid federal holidays while on contract.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr.
