MEDICAL ASSISTANT
The MEDICAL ASSISTANT will be responsible for the operation of a Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) machine. this job allows regular patient contact with a diverse group of patients who most commonly have Major Depressive Disorder. THE TMS TECHNICIAN works directly with psychiatrists and psychologists The MEDICAL ASSISTANT will receive appropriate training and TMS certifications on the job. The individual ensures that the machine is properly calibrated and functioning before each treatment session. They will also monitor the patient during the procedure to ensure their safety and comfort. After each session, they will clean and maintain the equipment according to manufacturer's instructions.
Job Responsibilities
- Transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) technicians operate machines that deliver electrical impulses to the brain to treat conditions such as depression and migraines.
- They prepare patients for treatment by applying a coil to the head and ensuring that they are comfortable.
- They monitor patients during treatment and adjust the machine as needed.
- After treatment, they remove the coil from the patient's head and provide aftercare instructions.
Objectives
- To provide TMS therapy to patients with neurological disorders in order to improve their quality of life.
- To operate TMS equipment safely and effectively, in accordance with manufacturer's instructions and applicable safety regulations.
- To maintain a clean and organized work area, in order to ensure patient safety and comfort.
- To educate patients and their families about TMS therapy, its risks and benefits, prior to treatment initiation.
- To keep accurate records of patient treatments, responses and progress, in order to monitor treatment efficacy and make necessary adjustments.
- Facilitate prior authorization of treatment

- A TMS Technician must have excellent communication and customer service skills. They must be able to understand and follow complex instructions. A high school diploma or equivalent is required. Some college coursework in biology, psychology, or a related field is preferred but not required.
TRAINING/CERTIFICATION PROVIDED
Although full-time is preferred we would consider individuals who can only work 3-4 full days per week.
