POSITION SUMMARY:
The System Administrator will manage and secure the companys IT systems across its offices and warehouses. This individual will configure, maintain, and improve on-premises systems, ensuring they are reliable, scalable, and secure.
In addition, the System Administrator will engage with internal staff, leadership, and vendors to strategically coordinate and implement solutions that address technological needs and support the companys growth across its divisions.
The successful candidate will also serve as a mentor and leader to the IT Technician, ensuring that day-to-day support is handled efficiently while focusing on strategic improvements in IT operations, cybersecurity, and cloud adoption. The System Administrator will further support innovation throughout all departments with knowledge and interest in AI and machine learning tools.
Key Responsibilities
- Configure, maintain, and optimize Windows Server environments, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, and file/print services.
- Administer Microsoft Exchange and other Microsoft administration tools (on-premises and cloud integration with Microsoft 365), ensuring that email and data storage systems function properly.
- Demonstrate expertise in cloud infrastructure services (Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud Platform) to improve cost efficiency and scalability. Experience in designing and implementing cloud services such as Entra ID and Azure AD is highly preferred.
- Maintain, evaluate, and optimize network and system equipment performance.
- Oversee data backups, disaster recovery planning, and system documentation.
- Manage, enforce, and maintain security and compliance across the organization, working with cybersecurity vendors and implementing endpoint protection policies and configurations.
- Monitor, detect, and mitigate phishing attempts, malware, and network vulnerabilities. Implement new initiatives and training programs to educate employees on cybersecurity awareness and prevention.
- Implement and maintain best practices for access control, MFA, patch management, and auditing. Ensure compliance with company policies and industry standards for IT security.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to IT staff, delegating routine support tasks while focusing on higher-level projects.
- Lead IT projects such as server migrations, cloud adoption, network storage expansions, and security initiatives.
- Ensure end-users across offices and warehouses receive excellent IT support.
- Collaborate with leadership to align IT strategies with business objectives.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in IT system administration, preferably within SMB or construction/logistics environments.
- Strong knowledge of Windows Server (2016/2019/2022), Microsoft Exchange, and Active Directory.
- Solid foundation in AI/ML tools and platforms preferred, with at least 2 years of experience leading AI/ML initiatives.
- Hands-on experience with Microsoft 365 and hybrid cloud environments (Azure AD, Exchange Online, OneDrive, SharePoint).
- Strong networking skills, including VLANs, routing, firewall policies, and the Ubiquiti UniFi ecosystem.
- Experience with virtualization technologies, database concepts, and scripting tools such as PowerShell.
- Strong information security background with exposure to endpoint protection and phishing defense strategies.
- Ability to lead, mentor, and delegate effectively.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; able to work both independently and collaboratively.
- Excellent troubleshooting and documentation skills; familiarity with ticketing systems such as Atera or Jira.
- IT certifications such as CompTIA Security+, CompTIA Cybersecurity Analyst (CySA+), Cisco CCNA, or certifications in Cloud, AI, or other IT domains are highly encouraged and considered an advantage.
