Job Description and Responsibilities:
The Tactical Software Engineer formulates and defines specifications for new applications and modifies and maintains existing applications using engineering releases and utilities from the manufacturer. The Tactical Software Engineer is responsible for program design, modeling, simulation, coding, testing, debugging and documentation. The Tactical Software Engineer is also responsible for applications dealing with complex interfaces, such as sophisticated file maintenance routines, applications for large telecommunications and communications networks, computer accounting programs, and advanced mathematical/scientific software packages. The Tactical Software Engineer instructs, directs, and reviews the work of other software engineering personnel. The Tactical Software Engineer is responsible for quality assurance reviews, as well as the evaluation of new and existing Government-Off-the-Shelf (GOTS) and Commercial-Off-the-Shelf (COTS) software products.
- Ensure that TACLAN family of systems have the latest approved software images that can operate in both standalone and SOFNET-U/S environments.
- Conduct full software preparation, testing and integration of automated methods for software on both server and client systems to ensure ease of use for the tactical warfighter.
- Coordinate with Enterprise Data Center and J63 stakeholders to ensure the latest software and standards are incorporated into the TACLAN software image and Digital Medial Library as required
- Investigate, analyze and integrate software requirements, tactical synergy, configurator orchestration, and automated methods of real-time image control and distribution
- Provide Analysis of Alternatives for TACLAN software systems and ensure the TACLAN Program interacts with all SOF Stakeholders to ensure the software assets meet stakeholders needs.
Required Experience:
- TS/SCI Clearance
Bachelors degree in a relevant field or equivalent professional experience.
DoD 8570 compliance with IAT Level 2 Approved Certification.
Proficiency with scripting languages such as PowerShell, Python, and Ansible.
Experience configuring and administering hypervisors, including VMware, Nutanix, and Rancher.
Proven ability to create, maintain, and update technical documentation.
Experience configuring and maintaining DISA STIGs for hardware and software frameworks.
Working knowledge of containerization technologies and cloud environments.
Demonstrated experience administering Microsoft Windows Server environments.
Hands-on experience with automated software distribution tools such as Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM).
Perform comprehensive developmental testing and evaluation (DT&E) of provided release candidates to verify operational effectiveness and certify readiness for fielding.
Experience supporting Incident, Release, and/or Configuration Management functions within a DoD organization.
Ability to work effectively as part of a team and lead discussions to achieve positive outcomes.
Strong interpersonal, business management, and customer service skills.
