Journeyman Painter
Role overview
NEPR is seeking a Journeyman Painter to deliver consistent production and finish quality on active jobsites. This role requires strong prep and application skills, safe work practices, and reliable daily communication.
What you'll do
- Execute professional prep, priming, and finish painting with strong protection and cleanup standards.
- Meet daily production targets while maintaining high-quality workmanship and jobsite professionalism.
- Provide daily updates (completed work, manpower, materials, issues, next-day plan).
- Read and apply basic plan and specification information when required (finish schedules, door schedules, color locations).
- Work safely every day and contribute to a zero-incident culture.
What we're looking for
- Typically 2,000-3,000 field hours (approximately 12-18 months) aligned with Journeyman capability.
- Strong hands-on skill with brush, roll, and spray; masking and protection; and finish quality.
- Reliable attendance, punctuality, and communication; ownership of results.
- Ability to work independently and contribute positively to crew productivity.
Performance expectations (examples)
- Doors/frames: prep + prime + 2 finish coats on a standard 3x7 door or frame in approximately 50 mins (at acceptable quality).
- Walls (rolling): approximately 225 sq ft per hour (at acceptable quality).
- Trim (brushing): approximately 65 LF per hour on 4-inch trim without taping off the floor (at acceptable quality).
