Job Highlights
The Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) or Home Health Aide (HHA) provides essential personal care and related services within the home setting. Operating under the direct guidance, instruction, and supervision of the Registered Nurse, as well as the Director of Nursing or designated supervisor, the CNA/HHA plays a vital role in supporting patient well-being and ensuring the implementation of prescribed care plans.
Qualifications
- Graduate of a certified assistant nurse program
- Licensed Certified Nurse Assistant in the applicable state or Certificate of Training as an HHA
- Minimum of one (1) year of experience as a Certified Nurse Assistant or HHA
- Two years experience in home health preferred
- Excellent knowledge of nursing care methods and procedures
- Understanding of the principles of nursing
- In-depth knowledge of health and safety guidelines and procedures (sanitation, decontamination, etc.) and willingness to follow them at all times
- Compassion and empathy skills
- Ability to think critically and solve problems
- Excellent attention to detail
- Time management skills
- Organization skills
- Able to maintain strict confidentiality with regard to protected and sensitive information
Responsibilities
- Execute personal care tasks outlined in the care plan with a focus on meeting the individual needs of the client.
- Provide assistance with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support.
- Administer medications as directed by the Registered Nurse, adhering strictly to established protocols and guidelines.
- Observe and document changes in the client's physical or emotional condition.
- Report observations, reactions to treatments, and any other relevant information to the Registered Nurse promptly.
- Communicate effectively with clients and their families, ensuring clarity on care procedures and addressing any concerns.
- Work in collaboration with the healthcare team, including the Registered Nurse and other professionals, to ensure seamless and comprehensive care delivery.
- Receive regular supervision and evaluation from the Registered Nurse to enhance skills and maintain the highest standards of care.
- Participate in periodic conferences to discuss performance and address any challenges.
- Follow all policies and procedures related to client care, safety, and infection control.
