Bachelor's or Master's degree in Social Work, active Social Worker license and minimum 1+ years School Social Work experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
Located in Cape Coral, FL, this contract opportunity involves providing essential social work services in a K-12 school setting. The position requires on-site work with a focus on delivering evidence-based mental health support and interventions to students.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver individual and group mental health and counseling services tailored to student needs.
- Employ verbal de-escalation and crisis intervention techniques, including TEACH strategies, to manage aggressive behaviors.
- Prepare sections of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and engage in data collection and progress monitoring for assigned caseload.
- Collaborate effectively with related service providers, teachers, and paraprofessionals as part of the classroom team.
- Conduct comprehensive mental health appraisals, including psycho/social/behavioral assessments, and develop remediation plans grounded in research-based educational and therapeutic practices.
Qualifications:
- Masters degree in Social Work or Mental Health Counseling is required; psychologists are not considered.
- Minimum two years of experience working with children and parents in a mental health capacity.
- Florida Department of Education certification in social work, or licensed clinical social worker/licensed mental health provider as regulated by Chapter 491, F.S.
- Candidates with a Masters degree must register as a Mental Health Counselor Intern within six months of hire, receive supervision by a Qualified Supervisor, and attain clinical licensure within three years.
- Proven ability to handle adolescent and child mental health crises effectively.
Additional Information:
- Position duration: January 5, 2026, through May 29, 2026.
- Work hours: 35 hours per week (7 hours per day).
- Caseload and specific schools assigned will vary.
