Job Description
We are seeking skilled Fitters who can work from blueprints to construct heavy industrial steel frames and tanks for a global clientele. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in welding, particularly in tack welding, and have the capability to work on client-specific readings.
Responsibilities
- Work from a set of drawings or blueprints to determine requirements in terms of space, tools, and personnel.
- Develop and execute a plan of action to fabricate the weldment as detailed in the drawings with efficiency and accuracy.
- Adhere to safety policies and ensure proper use and care of all equipment required for fit-up activities.
- Effectively delegate work and maintain an organized team to consistently meet safety, quality, and workmanship standards.
- Utilize fit-up tools, fixturing, methods, and equipment proficiently.
- Adapt between plate work and structural, mechanical, and industrial tasks, working solely from supplied drawings.
- Use GMAW and FCAW processes for tack-welding efficiently.
- Perform other tasks as assigned by the Shop Supervisor.
Essential Skills
- Exceptional blueprint reading abilities.
- Strong welding skills, particularly in tack welding.
- Leadership skills to effectively manage a team.
- Proficiency in using fit-up tools and equipment.
- Ability to adapt to different types of work without relying on repetition.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Ability to identify parts and conceptualize from a drawing.
- Strong math skills to understand tanks, diameters, and figure attachment and cut points.
- Experience with ASTM-A36 and ASTM-A572 materials, as well as various grades and thicknesses of stainless steel.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Plant City, FL.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $28.00/hr.
