Position Summary:
The Compounding Pharmacy Technician is responsible for preparing customized medications in accordance with established formulas, regulatory standards, and pharmacy protocols. This role requires strong attention to detail, accuracy, adherence to safety guidelines, and the ability to work efficiently in a sterile and non-sterile compounding environment.
Key Responsibilities

Prepare sterile and non-sterile compounded medications according to guidelines

Measure, mix, and prepare ingredients according to individualized prescription formulas

Maintain proper aseptic technique and ensure sterility during compounding processes

Document all compounding activities, lot numbers, and batch records accurately

Clean and maintain compounding equipment, hoods, and work areas

Manage inventory of chemicals, supplies, and medications

Ensure compliance with state and federal pharmacy regulations

Assist pharmacists with quality checking compounded preparations

Support general pharmacy operations as needed
Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent required

Active Pharmacy Technician License (state-specific) required

National PTCB certification preferred (CPhT)

Prior compounding experience strongly preferred

Knowledge of USP standards and aseptic compounding techniques

Strong math skills and ability to follow precise formulas

Excellent attention to detail and accuracy

Ability to stand for long periods and lift 25–30 lbs
