EMPLOYEE PRESCHOO LEAD TEACHER JOB DESCRIPTION
Primary Purpose:
The Preschool Lead Teacher at A Firm Foundation Early Learning Center Inc. plays a vital role in providing a nurturing, educational, and safe environment for young children. This rewarding yet demanding position requires someone who is passionate about early childhood education and dedicated to fostering the growth and development of children in their care. The Lead Teacher is responsible for creating and implementing developmentally appropriate curriculum, ensuring the safety and welfare of the children, and maintaining a professional and positive relationship with parents and coworkers.

On-Site Supervisor/Director
Responsibilities:
- Curriculum Development: Develop and implement age-appropriate lesson plans and activities that promote the physical, cognitive, social, emotional, and creative development of children in the preschool program.
- Classroom Management: Maintain a well-organized and engaging classroom environment that fosters a love of learning and encourages children's independence and self-expression.
- Child Observation: Regularly observe and assess children's progress, identifying individual strengths, challenges, and areas for growth. Use these observations to tailor instruction and provide appropriate support.
- Safety and Welfare: Ensure the safety and well-being of all children while in the center's care. Keep a vigilant eye on children at all times and follow proper procedures for supervision during indoor and outdoor activities.
- Supervision and Support: Provide guidance and support to assistant teachers and volunteers, ensuring that they adhere to center policies and maintain high standards of care and education.
- Parent Communication: Maintain open and respectful communication with parents, keeping them informed about their child's development, progress, and any relevant information concerning the child's experience at the center.
- Professionalism: Uphold a professional demeanor at all times, treating all parents, coworkers, and children with respect, friendliness, and integrity.
- Training and Development: Stay informed about the latest trends and best practices in early childhood education, attending required staff meetings and professional development opportunities.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 18 years of age or older.
- Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education preferred, or a Child Development Associate (CDA) credential.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in the field of child development, with a verifiable record of satisfactory performance.
- Strong knowledge of child development principles and developmentally appropriate practices.
- Familiarity with state licensing regulations and requirements for early childhood education programs.
- Current First Aid and CPR certification.
- Ability to pass a fingerprinting clearance and criminal background check.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build positive relationships with children, parents, and coworkers.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Patience, creativity, and a passion for working with young children.
Working Hours: The Preschool Lead Teacher position is full-time, and the working hours are aligned with the center's operational hours from 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday.
