Job Description
Experienced Direct Support Professional (DSP) - Intense Behavior Home
Shalimare Inc. | Full-Time, Set Schedules First Shift: 7:00 AM-3:00 PM | Second Shift: 3:00 PM-11:00 PM Immediate Openings | Experience Required
This job is not for beginners - and that's on purpose.
Shalimare Inc. is hiring experienced DSPs for our Intense Behavior (IB) residential homes, supporting adults with autism and developmental disabilities who need structure, routine, and staff who know what they're doing.
This is full-time work with a steady, predictable daily routine. We're looking for people who show up, follow the plan, and understand that consistency matters - especially in IB homes.
This Job Is a Good Fit If You:
- Have 2+ years of hands-on DSP or behavioral experience
- Can stay calm, respectful, and steady during behavioral moments
- Understand that routines exist for a reason - and stick to them
- Communicate clearly and complete notes before the shift ends
- Know the work can be hard some days and still come back ready
What You'll Be Doing
As a DSP / Behavior Assistant, you'll provide direct, hands-on care during your scheduled 8-hour shift in an IB group home. That includes:
- Helping with daily living skills like hygiene, meals, chores, shopping, and transportation
- Following behavior plans and house routines as written
- Supporting individuals during activities at home and in the community
- Writing accurate, timely documentation
- Letting the Home Manager know right away about health, safety, or behavior concerns
This is active work. You are engaged, aware, and part of what keeps the home running safely.
What We Offer
- $500 sign-on bonus after requirements are completed
- Competitive pay with regular raises
- Paid training and required certifications
- Health insurance, paid time off, holiday pay/bonuses, and a 401(k) retirement plan for eligible employees
- Opportunities to move up - we promote from within
- A workplace where showing up, following the plan, and doing right by the individuals actually matters
This Job Is Probably NOT a Good Fit If You:
- Want a quiet, low-effort, or sit-down job
- Need rotating, on-call, or short-term work
- Get frustrated easily by behaviors or redirection
- Have trouble being on time, consistent, or completing documentation
- Are just looking for something temporary
Our IB homes depend on reliable, engaged staff to keep individuals safe, stable, and supported.
What It's Like to Work in Our IB Homes
Our IB homes run on routine, teamwork, and clear communication. Each shift has expectations, and staff work together to keep the home calm, safe, and consistent. You'll know what your role is, who you report to, and how to pass information to the next shift so nothing gets missed.
Some shifts are smooth, and some are challenging. When behaviors happen, staff are expected to stay steady, follow the plan, and support each other. The work takes patience and follow-through, but it matters. What you do during your shift directly affects how the rest of the day - and the next shift - goes for the individuals and your coworkers.
