SUMMARY:The Certified Peer Recovery Specialist (CPRS) is a person in recovery from a substance use disorder who provides one on one peer support services including emotional support, de-escalation, providing individuals and/or families with information and linkage to additional services to meet their needs, completing warm hand-offs and following up with clients. The Peer Recovery Specialist is responsible for providing excellent service by applying reflective listening and motivational interviewing skills. This position has the special training and skills to interact both face-to-face and via phone, to understand clients’ unique circumstances and needs. CPRS performs a wide range of tasks to support individuals and/or families living their own lives and directing their own recovery and wellness process. The CPRS is patient, knowledgeable, empathetic and helpful.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school or equivalent
- Certified Peer Recovery Specialist
- At least 2 years in recovery from a substance use disorder.
- Must be qualified in Basic Life Support Techniques (Will train)
- Personal and professional qualities to work with the staff of the health center and with diverse populations.
- Bilingual Spanish or Haitian-Creole, preferred.
