TITLE: Painter
EXEMPT STATUS: Non-Exempt
REPORTS TO: Maintenance Supervisor
GENERAL SUMMARY:
The Painter person is responsible for painting, maintaining, and repairing painted, wall-covered, stained, and varnished surfaces of building structures, rooms, throughout the facilities
PRINCIPLE DUTIES:
Essential Job Duties:
1. Prepare and paint surfaces using techniques and tools, including, but not limited to, measuring surfaces, applying spackle and plaster, mixing paint, matching paint, and using brushes, rollers, and spray-guns
2. Install and repair covered wall and ceiling surfaces, including, but not limited to, hanging vinyl paper, fabric, and foil wall coverings
3. Maintain and repair caulked, grouted, wood, and masonry surfaces requiring staining, varnishing, and lacquering
4. Manage related supply inventory
5. Additional duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Technical schooling and/or background preferred. Ability to understand and follow instructions in English, communicate effectively, and perform simple arithmetic.
- One year of experience is necessary.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORKING CONDITIONS:
Moderate to heavy physical effort; may be exposed to the elements (heat, cold, rain, snow); work in area with high voltage electricity, hazardous equipment and moving parts; work on roof top and other high places; ability to set up and climb ladders safely with tools and equipment necessary for assigned work; must be able to lift 80 pounds; must be able to walk, stand and stoop for an extended period of time (over 80% of the time); exposure to a variety of chemicals and dust daily; may be exposed to the HBV and HIV viruses.
