Our client is a respected fabricator in business for over 100 years and has a great foothold in their market. They are looking to hire an experienced Machinist for their Miami (Hialeah), Florida facility.

Summary:
The Senior Machinist level 3/CNC programmer must be proficient as a level 2 Machinist and be responsible for the following:
- Developing optimum machining strategies and setups, optimizing tooling, and programming CNC machines as cost-efficient as possible.
- Machining parts to specification from engineering drawings.
- Creating custom tooling, jigs, and work-holding techniques/fixtures for complex manufacturing with safety as the #1 priority.
- Proficient in CAD/CAM software (e.g., SolidWorks, Mastercam, Camworks) for program creation
- Extensive experience with various CNC machine types (mills, lathes, etc.)
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
This capacity will also be responsible for meeting production goals, including machine utilization targets, quality goals, which include performing inline inspection of all their work. Must be proficient utilizing the following measuring equipment: Caliper’s, Height gauges, protractors, dial indicators, telescoping gauges, micrometers (OD/ID), and spectrometers. This level of capacity must be competent of holding +- .001” tolerances on dimensional features.
In addition, the incumbent will also be responsible for running secondary operations such as deburring parts, cutting raw materials, and general machine shop assistance. The candidate will also aid in doing general shop maintenance, such as performing preventive maintenance on the equipment and cleaning the general departmental area. Machinists are also expected to make sure generic tooling is well maintained and 5S’d (a place for everything and everything in its place) to further boost flexibility and reduce cost.
Experience and/or Educational Requirements:
- Must be capable of reading CAD drawings as per ASME Y-14.5, and be proficient in GDT.
- Understand G/M-Code as per EIA (RS-274-D)
- Reviews the optimum tooling requirements.
- Capable of setting up jaws/tools/stops/indicators for prototyping or production runs, work-holding techniques.
- Understands standard process guidelines (based on tooling and machine’s capability) for tool speeds and feeds to diagnose process problems and run the manufacturing process efficiently.
- Have a profound knowledge of proper tool selection, and mounting techniques for the tools and raw materials.
- Selects the proper measuring device to ensure that the quality of the product, as described on the drawing, is attained.
- Maintains a high level of OEE’s, by running machines efficiently and productively.
- High school diploma or equivalent,
- A minimum of 8 years’ experience in setup and run of CNC Mills and Lathes; or a combination of trade school certification plus 4 years of setup experience.
