Job Description:
The University of Florida Fredric G. Levin College of Law invites applications for a Clinical Practitioner-in-Residence in its Immigration Clinic to start as soon as practicable. This position will offer entry-level and newly-practicing attorneys exposure to law school clinical teaching and research opportunities at one of the nation's premier public law schools.
The Immigration Clinic handles both affirmative and defensive immigration cases before the Department of State, the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services, and the Executive Office for Immigration Review. The Clinic provides representation for individuals navigating complicated U.S. immigration laws. Clinic clients apply for benefits like asylum, family-based visas, and naturalization; the Clinic also defends those facing removal proceedings in Immigration Court.
The position will be supervised and mentored by the Director of the Clinic and work collaboratively with students and clinical staff. Some travel for clinic-related work will be required. The position will initially be offered as a one-year opportunity, with contingent on continued funding and job performance.

- Assist in supervision of the Immigration Clinic course, as directed by the Clinic Director;
- Manage a caseload, supervised by the Clinic Director;
- Represent clients as the attorney of record at USCIS appointments or during EOIR Court hearings (in person or virtually, depending on the needs of the client);
- Meet with clients and prospective clients; and
- Provide education and outreach to noncitizens and other partner organizations.

Required Qualifications:
- Admitted to the bar in any state (Florida preferred)
- J.D. from accredited law school
- Valid driver's license
- Authorized to work in the United States.
Preferred:
- One to three years as a practicing attorney, with experience in Immigration Law and Administrative Law
- Fluency in the Spanish language
- Experience working for immigration non-profits, immigration law firms, government agencies, or clerking
- Prior teaching experience
- Accredited to represent noncitizens before the Executive Office for Immigration Review
