- Perform hands-on tasks such as scraping, sanding, glazing, and painting to restore historic windows and doors to original, period-accurate condition.
- Perform sash removal and installation, window installation, siding, containment setup, and mechanical adjustments at job sites.
- Perform deglazing, stripping, repairs (epoxy and filler), glass cutting, glazing, hand priming and painting, staining, varnishing, and screening as needed.
- Build and assemble sashes and subsills using hand and power tools.
- Safely and accurately operate large and small tools and machinery, including table saws, routers, shapers, jointers, planers, circular saws, and nailers.
- Provide courteous, professional service when interacting with clients on-site, representing the company's craftsmanship and values.
- Work on-site at historic landmarks and properties as required, treating each site with the care and respect its historic significance demands.
- Travel to job sites for extended periods when required, with weekend returns home when possible (not guaranteed).
Shop & Operational Duties:
- Perform routine upkeep and minor maintenance on hand tools, power tools, and shop equipment to ensure safe, reliable operation.
- Keep the wood shop, job site, and work areas organized and clean, ensuring a safe and efficient working environment at all times.
- Proactively communicate material and supply needs to prevent project delays.
- Adheres to and promotes all company safety procedures to maintain a safe working environment for all team members.
- Participates in ongoing training and continuing education to develop and refine restoration and craftsmanship skills.
Required Qualifications:
- Ability to read, write, and follow basic instructions and work orders.
- Strong attention to detail and a consistent commitment to safety.
- Reliable and dependable; consistently shows up on time and ready to work.
- Positive, proactive attitude with a willingness to learn and take on new tasks.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Hands-on experience or demonstrated skill in carpentry, window/door restoration, painting, or glazing.
- Experience with shop and site tools and machinery, including table saws, routers, sanders, and standard hand and power tools.
- Experience in finish work such as scraping, sanding, priming, and painting, including sash and door restoration.
- Experience installing or hanging doors, and building screens, storm units, and trim components (parting beads, stops, trim/casing, brick molding).
- Experience with spray finishing or coating application (spraying).
- Welding experience or certification.

Requirements
- Regularly lift and carry up to 50 lbs; occasionally lift heavier items with assistance.
- Climb and work from ladders, scaffolding, and other elevated surfaces, including working at heights.
- Frequently bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, and reach, including in tight or awkward spaces.
- Push, pull, and perform repetitive hand and arm motions (sanding, scraping, painting, and hand or power tool use) for extended periods.
- Stand and walk for most of a shift on shop floors and job sites, including uneven or outdoor surfaces.
- Tolerate exposure to varying outdoor weather conditions, dust, fumes, and loud machinery noise.
- Wear personal protective equipment (PPE) as required, including safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, and respirators.
