Commercial HVAC Estimator

Requirements:

  • Ability to read, analyze, and comprehend complex instructions, correspondence, memos, blueprints, specifications, contract documents, control drawings, technical procedure manuals, equipment specifications.
  • Prepares work to be accomplished by gathering information and requirements, setting priorities.
  • Prepares construction budget by studying plans; updating specifications; identifying and projecting costs for each elevation.
  • Evaluates offers to purchase by costing changes, additions, and site requirements.
  • Obtains bids from vendors and subcontractors by specifying materials; identifying qualified subcontractors; negotiating price.
  • Understand Commercial HVAC design principles, knowledgeable in Commercial HVAC estimating; capable of sheet metal and piping take-off.
  • Familiar with Heavy Commercial HVAC and Hydronics.
  • Promote sales of new construction, service, upgrades and replacement of obsolete equipment and components for installations.
  • Respond to customer inquiries for equipment additions to existing systems and modernization.
  • Work with General Manager, Estimating Manager and Sales Manager to develop strategy on a project by project/regional basis.
  • Ability to clearly communicate in both written and verbal English.
  • Unencumbered US Driver’s License.
  • US Citizenship or Permanent Resident Status required.
  • Follow up with new construction clients at appropriate time to offer Services and PM Contracts.
  • Work to achieve annual growth targets with respect to both revenue and profit.
  • Monitors the issuance of material and subcontract purchase orders for compliance to construction and schedule requirements (including budget).
  • Evaluates and leads the implementation of cost saving opportunities on a project-by-project basis or via other strategic approach.
  • Coordinates with other functional department leads to establish a realistic project schedule and monitors compliance with the defined project objectives and project

management processes to ensure the timely completion of project milestones and final delivery.

  • Demonstrates good negotiation, planning & interpersonal skills and ability to handle sensitive communications.
  • Read and review equipment schedules and fabrication standards and incorporate information to complete bid package.
  • Attend pre-bid meetings for upcoming projects as required.
  • Follow-up on proposals post bid & document bid tab results.
  • Coordinate with construction management team on inbounded projects.
  • Perform material & equipment take-off utilizing a digital software platform.
  • Forecast upcoming work & high probability projects with other departments.
  • Collaborate with controls, service, plumbing & construction departments for feedback on projects in progress and complete.
  • Demonstrates good negotiation, planning & interpersonal skills and ability to handle sensitive communications.
  • Prepare information for internal turnover and customer kick off meetings. • Track material, labor, subcontractor, and rental costs for trends
  • • Keep an orderly inventory of estimates and proposals including deliverables and contract exhibits and attachments required for construction.. • Keep current with new products, pricing and trends in industry to include working knowledge of and experience of all labor rates, self-perform productivities and crew mixes

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years’ experience in commercial HVAC Estimating/Project Management.
  • Understanding of commercial HVAC systems, Hydronics and Plumbing Systems.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office with knowledge of spreadsheets, projects and presentation software.
  • Experience with digital onscreen take-off systems; Viewpoint software preferred, but not required.
  • Ability to read and understand drawings, details and project specifications.
  • Good organizational skills and the ability to work with others.
  • Must be able to multi-task.
  • Effective communication and language skills; verbal and written.
  • Special Knowledge: Construction, Mechanical HVAC, Chillers, Boilers, Cooling Towers

Compensation and Benefits:

Top Base Pay ranges $75,000 to $85,000 a year DOE plus bonus!
