Overview:

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Dean for Allied Health. The Dean of a School leads the academic, fiscal, and operational areas in close partnership with the Campus President and with colleagues around the College. Responsible for ensuring all facets of School plans are aligned with and fulfill the college’s strategic priorities and direction.

This role primarily operates in a professional office environment. The employee will routinely operate standard office equipment including but not limited to computers, keyboards, mouse, phones, photocopiers, printers, scanners, filing cabinets and fax machines. This position is full-time and will be onsite in Orlando, FL.

Qualifications:

  • Doctorate degree from a regionally accredited institution.
  • Leadership experience appropriate to a senior leadership role in higher education.
  • Experience in teaching and learning, including direct experience in teaching.
  • Experience with student-related issues.
  • Experience in applying instructional technologies.
  • Experience in financial analysis, budget development and the design and assessment of administrative support systems.
  • Experience with grant and grant management.
  • Experience in analyzing, interpreting and disseminating student engagement, academic and outcome data.
  • Understanding of and commitment to the learning-centered community college.
    Understanding the myriad ways students experience a comprehensive community college.
  • Interpersonal skills that facilitate effective interactions with campus and college learning leaders, staff and students.
  • Knowledge of curriculum processes, teaching strategies, learning theory & initiatives, and learning outcome development.
  • Skill in effectively communicating orally and in writing to all groups of people.
  • Strong research, analytical and creative problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to work effectively with the community.
  • Strong computer skills (statistical, database, word processing, presentation and spreadsheet software).
  • Ability to work effectively with the community.

Essential Functions:

  • Recruits and supports exceptional full and part-time faculty and staff who are committed to student learning.
  • Provides conflict resolution, mediation, and negotiation of student, staff and faculty concerns by listening to and evaluating student concerns that are beyond the scope of Student Services, such as concerns involving academic matters, faculty, or instruction, referring unresolved student concerns to the appropriate institutional area.
  • Formulates strategic plans for the school in college-wide collaboration, support, manage, and assess school academic and continuing education programs including limited access programs, revenue-generating programs, and programs distributed to multiple campuses.
  • Works collaboratively with the Campus President and other learning leaders’ college wide to ensure the effective planning, analysis, and evaluation of academic priorities Provides leadership in the design, implementation and assessment of school-specific academic and continuing education initiatives and enrollment plans, under the purview of the Campus President.
  • Ensures the integrity of academic and continuing education programs by upholding professional and accreditation standards With college partners, develops and maintains affiliation agreements.
  • In support of college, campus, and school priorities, works collaboratively with college-wide professional development leaders to develop, coordinate, and implement orientation and professional development opportunities for faculty and staff Works closely with the Teaching and Learning Academy to ensure effective implementation of the pre-tenure process.
  • Represents the school, campus, and the college with local state agencies, secondary and postsecondary institutions, and local employers as it relates to school-specific learning initiatives.
  • Develops strong partnerships with community stakeholders in support of college and school programming Understands and contributes to local efforts in economic development.
  • With college partners, develops and administers grants to advance the work of the school.
  • Supports school and college-related philanthropy and fundraising efforts.
  • Responsible for developing and allocating assigned budgets. Coordinates the development, implementation, and evaluation of local budgets and externally funded grants under the purview of the Campus President.
  • Responsible for supervising, developing, and evaluating assigned staff.
  • Fulfills all reporting obligations of an identified “Administrator” according to documented policies.
  • Responsible for coordinating internal and external communication and promotion of programs, services, student testimonials, and events for the school.
  • Learning: a) Assesses learning at the program and division level by contributing to the design of formative and summative assessments addressing the questions. “What are students learning?” and “How do we know?” Produces reports on progress made toward the achievement of learning outcomes; designs and collects data for implementing and evaluating division plans related to institutional effectiveness; b) Supports faculty and staff through honest communication and professional development recommendations by listening to their ideas and concerns with an open mind, communicating directly and honestly regarding achievements and challenges, and by providing recommendations for professional development and timely performance evaluations; c) Ensures the integrity of academic programs by upholding professional and accreditation standards through collaboration with faculty on curriculum development and upholding professional and accreditation standards.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
