Enrollment & International Student Specialist – Registrar

Location: Miami Campus, On-Site

Reports to: Registrar

Position Overview

Albizu University is seeking a detail-oriented, student-centered Enrollment & International Student Specialist at the Miami Campus. This role provides comprehensive support to domestic, international, and veteran students, including ESOL and Professional Development participants, throughout the enrollment and registration process. The Specialist assists international students with immigration documentation, manages the operation of Professional Certificates, certifies veteran student enrollments with the VA, and serves as a liaison with external agencies to ensure compliance with federal regulations. In addition, the Specialist fosters a positive and welcoming environment for all students while contributing to the University’s overall enrollment efforts in alignment with its mission and standards.

Responsibilities

  • Guide all students, including international students, through the enrollment process, assisting with course registration, scheduling, and completion of required documents.
  • Ensure accurate entry of student information into in Colleague, or similar databases, and maintain up-to-date student records.
  • Assist international students in navigating visa requirements, federal compliance, and immigration regulations.
  • Serve as a Designated School Official (DSO) to issue and manage I-20 forms and related documentation for international students.
  • Provide information and support to international students on maintaining visa status, including full-time enrollment, program extension, and employment options.
  • Collaborate with student success coaches to ensure students are registered for appropriate courses, particularly in relation to international student visa requirements.
  • Work with other departments, such as Financial Aid and Student Accounts, to resolve enrollment, billing, and financial aid issues for both domestic and international students.
  • Develop and conduct orientation sessions specifically for international students, covering topics such as immigration policies, cultural adjustment, and campus resources.
  • Monitor international student compliance with immigration laws and institutional policies and provide timely updates on any changes.
  • Provide ongoing support to international students regarding housing, employment, academic progress, and personal concerns.
  • Assist in the development of reports related to international student enrollment and compliance.
  • Act as a liaison between the institution and federal agencies (e.g., USCIS, SEVP) to ensure institutional compliance with immigration laws.
  • Support student retention efforts by identifying at-risk students and providing appropriate referrals.
  • Participate in recruitment and outreach activities for international students.
  • Coordinate new student orientation and registration for international students.
  • Manages the operation of the Professional Education & Certificates and in collaboration with the Executive Director of Strategic Enrollment Growth, Professional & International Programs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Executive Director of Strategic Enrollment Growth, Professional & International Programs.
  • Process departmental requisitions related to enrollment and registrar services.
  • Coordinate the routing and collection of adjunct faculty contracts for necessary approvals and signatures.
  • Collaborate with Academic Program Directors to distribute current schedules and assist in developing future term schedules.
  • Manage office supply orders, including business cards, letterhead, and transcript-related materials, to ensure departmental needs are met.
  • Receive and review required documentation from veteran students, and certify their enrollments with the VA in accordance with federal regulations.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field preferred, or equivalent experience; Master's Degree preferred.
  • 2-3 years of experience working with international students in a higher education setting or experience in enrollment services.
  • Knowledge of SEVIS and U.S. immigration regulations pertaining to F-1 and J-1 students.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and in Colleague, or similar databases.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work with diverse student populations.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills to address enrollment and immigration issues.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail and meeting deadlines.
  • Customer service-oriented with the ability to support students' cultural adjustment and academic success.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Familiarity with international student recruitment and enrollment trends.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with internal departments and external agencies.
  • Multilingual skills are an asset, but not required.
