Job Description
This position primarily manages a diverse caseload, including family-based petitions, removal defense, asylum, waivers, and employment-based immigration. The attorney will represent clients before USCIS, EOIR, and other agencies; conduct legal research; prepare filings and motions; and collaborate with support staff to ensure timely, high-quality legal work. Strong communication, courtroom experience, and a thorough understanding of immigration law are essential.
Immigration Attorney – Job Responsibilities
- Represent clients in immigration matters before USCIS, EOIR, ICE, and other agencies
- Handle a caseload that may include family-based petitions, removal defense, asylum, waivers, and employment-based cases
- Conduct legal research and draft motions, briefs, and legal memoranda
- Prepare clients for interviews, hearings, and court appearances
- Review and approve case filings prepared by paralegals or case managers
- Communicate with clients regularly to provide updates and legal guidance
- Attend immigration interviews, bond hearings, and court proceedings
- Monitor case deadlines and ensure timely filings
- Maintain accurate client records and case notes in the case management system
- Stay up to date with changes in immigration law and policy
Requirements:
Education & License:
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school
- Active license to practice law in any U.S. state (Florida Bar preferred)
Experience:
- 1–3+ years of experience practicing immigration law
- Experience handling USCIS and EOIR matters (family-based, asylum, waivers, or removal defense preferred)
