Job Description
Welds together metal components of products, such as pipelines, automobiles, as specified by layout, blueprints, diagram, work order, welding procedures, or oral instructions, using electric arc-welding equipment. Repair equipment or items used to power machines, such as trucks, pumps, electric generators, and general construction equipment. Uses hand tools, precision measuring instruments, and machine tools. Diagnoses trouble, dissembles items and examines parts for defects and excessive wear. May operate other machine shop equipment to prepare components for welding. May do spot welding body assembly. Tacking. Flame cutting, steel and related items. Inspect and test welded joints of work in progress and of completed units for visible defects, dimensions, joint strength, bead formation, weld penetration, and conformance with layout. Inspect joints for hidden cracks, etc. Structural repairs. Fitting and welding components. May do gas welding using gas welding equipment as specified. May weld and cut parts, using arc-welding and flame cutting equipment. Must secure and maintain a valid and clean Florida driver’s license
