Summary:
Maintains golf course and related golf course equipment by performing the following duties:
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Include the following. Other duties may be assigned:
Schedules, trains, supervises all employees assigned to the department. Maintains accurate work records for all employees in the department.
Supervises all planting, fertilizing and care of turf, plants, shrubs, trees and other facilities on the golf course.
Supervises operation of the equipment repair shop.
Selects and prepares proper fertilizers and nutrients for all flora and fauna.
Develops and maintains drainage, irrigation and watering systems.
Maintains course in proper playing condition.
Implements and enforces a comprehensive safety program for employees, members and guests on the golf course in compliance with local, state and federal laws.
Communicates as necessary with Golf, Tennis and Fitness professionals to discuss conditions of the facilities, maintenance plans and scheduled events.
Communicates as necessary with Grounds, Golf, Fitness, House and any other applicable Committees.
Ensures that chemicals, petroleum and other controlled products are used, stored and disposed of in accordance with local, state and federal regulations. Maintains required records and strives to minimize the use of these products.
Attends staff and management meetings, turf conferences, equipment shows, workshops and other educational programs to maintain a current knowledge of technical and turf innovations and changes that may affect the department’s operations.
Conducts daily facility security checks ensuring accurate inventory of equipment and keys.
Plans professional development and training activities for subordinates.
Uses MS Office and other websites, apps, and programs to enter data for GC employees and projects.
Qualifications:

Education/Experience:
Must have a turf degree, certificate or at least 3 years of experience in a Golf Course Superintendent capacity. Must have excellent oral and written communication skills and team building skills. Must have basic proficiency in entering data and using apps and software.
Certifications, Licenses:
State of Florida “Restricted Use Pesticide” license (or obtain within 90 days of employment), valid drivers license.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to understand, interpret and follow a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form. Must be able to review reports and interpret results.
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to feel, handle and operate; reach with hands and arms; and see, talk and hear. The employee is frequently required to walk, bend, push, pullreach and occasionally lift and/or move 50lbs.
Work Environment:
Outside work for extended periods of time and precautions should be taken.
Additional Comments:
Must be able to work a flexible schedule including nights, holidays, and weekends.
