SIMEDHealth is seeking a Full-Time Respiratory Therapist to join our Pulmonology team in Gainesville, Florida.
As a well-established, multi-specialty physician group serving North Central Florida, SIMEDHealth is committed to delivering coordinated, patient-centered care. Our Pulmonology Department provides comprehensive respiratory services, and we are looking for a skilled, compassionate professional to support our growing patient population.
Position Summary
The Respiratory Therapist administers pulmonary function testing and provides respiratory-related care as prescribed by a licensed physician. This role works closely with pulmonologists, clinical staff, patients, and families to ensure accurate testing, effective education, and high-quality care.
Minimum Qualifications (Required)
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Associate’s degree from an accredited Respiratory Therapy program
- Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) or Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credentialed by the National Board for Respiratory Care – OR Certified or Registered Pulmonary Function Technologist (CPFT/RPFT) credentialed by the National Board for Respiratory Care
- Pulmonary Function Testing (PFT) experience, including body box
- Proficiency in computer systems, internet use, and word processing programs
Preferred Qualifications
- 1–2 years of medical office experience
- EMR experience
- Knowledge of Durable Medical Equipment (CPAP, BiPAP, ventilators) and Certificate of Medical Necessity (CMN) documentation
Primary Responsibilities
- Perform pulmonary function testing (including spirometry, flow volume loops, bronchodilator studies, and body box)
- Conduct six-minute walk tests, pulse oximetry, oxygen therapy, and nebulizer treatments
- Educate patients on inhaler technique, pulmonary medications, and oxygen use
- Maintain pulmonary testing equipment and complete test reports
- Support DME processes and documentation as needed
