Essential Job Duties:
- Oversee daily marker room, spreading, and cutting operations to ensure efficient workflow, accuracy, and on time production.
- Plan, organize, and prioritize departmental workload to meet production schedules and cost targets.
- Manage the full marker‑making process, including patternmaking, grading, testing, and marker development.
- Train and supervise marker makers in the use of computerized marker‑making systems (Gerber AccuMark).
- Maintain and update the pattern library to ensure current and accurate product specifications.
- Manage cutting room workflow and staffing to ensure precision, quality, and order accuracy.
- Review and inspect cut work to ensure compliance with quality and production standards.
- Ensure all cutting and marker equipment is properly maintained, including Gerber machines and hand‑cutting tools.
- Hire, train, evaluate, and discipline team members in collaboration with supervisors and the Plant Manager.
- Collaborate with Scheduling, Operations, and Quality teams to align workflow with production targets.
- Coordinate with Warehouse personnel to ensure fabric and material availability.
- Implement and enforce safety and quality protocols across all cutting and marker operations.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and compliant work environment in accordance with company standards.
- Develop and monitor performance metrics to drive efficiency, accuracy, and cost improvements.
- Maintain departmental records and documentation, including production files and historical data.
- Identify and implement process improvements related to accuracy, fabric utilization, and workflow.
- Perform additional duties as assigned
Education & Experience:
- 5-10 years of hands‑on experience in apparel manufacturing, specifically in marker making, spreading, and cutting operations.
- Extensive experience (5–10 years) with Gerber AccuMark or comparable computerized marker‑making systems, including patternmaking, grading, and marker optimization.
- Demonstrated leadership experience managing teams in a production or manufacturing environment.
- Strong understanding of garment construction, fabric utilization, and cost‑efficient cutting practices.
- Proficiency with production software and computer applications, including pattern systems, scheduling tools, and Microsoft Office.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to train, coach, and collaborate across departments.
- Experience working in a fast‑paced, deadline‑driven manufacturing environment with a focus on quality, safety, and continuous improvement.
- Ability to read, write, and understand basic English.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States.
Required Qualifications:
- Legal Requirement: Must be a U.S. person (U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident) to comply with federal contracting regulations. Must be a US person as defined by ITAR.
- Language Proficiency: All candidates must be fluent in English, with the ability to speak, read, and write at a professional level.
Physical Demands & Working Conditions:
- Ability to sit or stand for extended periods while performing computer‑based tasks, reviewing markers, or overseeing production activities.
- Manual dexterity and hand–eye coordination to handle patterns, fabric samples, files, and small tools.
- Occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds, including rolls of fabric, files, equipment components, or production materials.
- Mobility to move throughout the facility, including the marker room, floor cutting warehouse, and office areas.
- Visual acuity to review markers, inspect cut work, operate computers, and monitor machinery.
- Ability to bend, reach, and stretch to access materials, equipment, and storage areas as needed.
- Strength and coordination to operate or assist with cutting equipment when required.
