Schedule: Varies between 6:00 AM to 10:30 PM
Job Description:The Municipal Service Worker will assist the Parks & Recreation Department in the maintenance and upkeep of city parks, public grounds, and recreational facilities. This is a hands-on, physically demanding role that supports the safety, cleanliness, and overall functionality of outdoor and indoor public spaces.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform general maintenance and cleaning of park grounds, athletic fields, restrooms, playgrounds, pavilions, and recreation facilities
- Operate hand tools, small machinery, and basic maintenance equipment
- Assist with landscaping duties including mowing, trimming, planting, and watering
- Set up and break down equipment for events or public functions
- Remove litter, debris, and perform general custodial tasks
- Support basic repairs to park amenities such as benches, fences, or signage
- Follow safety procedures and guidelines at all times
- Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors regarding work progress and needs
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Required Skills and Physical Requirements:
- Ability to walk, move, climb, carry, bend, kneel, crawl, reach, handle, sit, stand, push, and pull
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions
- Basic knowledge of maintenance tools and safe work practices
- Ability to follow instructions and complete tasks independently or as part of a team
- Must be reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic
