Job purpose
The Molecular Technologist role is responsible for the daily workflow in the molecular department in our clinical reference laboratory in Tampa, FL.
This position is a day shift position, Monday-Friday 10am-6pm.
Duties and responsibilities

- License: Must have Florida MT license. Generalist preferred.
The primary job duties and responsibilities are as follows:
- Follow SOP and testing procedures in the molecular testing department
- Prepare, load, run, and analyze molecular testing samples and data.
- Maintain instrumentation on daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance tasks.
- Troubleshoot instrument issues and work with supervisory staff in resolving any technical issues that may arise.
- Assist staff in developing new procedures and pinpoint areas to increase efficiency in laboratory processes to management.
- Perform preventative maintenance
- Review Quality Control daily.
Qualifications
These are the minimum qualifications that are necessary for someone to be considered for the position.
Qualifications include:
- Prior experience with lab based molecular diagnostic systems like QuantStudio preferred
- Prior experience with automated liquid handling systems, such as Tecan, Biomek.
- Able to work well and promote collaboration in a fast paced, team environment
- Education: Bachelor Degree, Medical Technologist / Clinical Laboratory Scientist
- License: Must have Florida MT license. Generalist preferred.
Working conditions
The role will require working in an air-conditioned office within a molecular diagnostic laboratory. This is a non-exempt role (hourly wage) and a normal 8 hour workday is customary with flexible accommodations per agreement with the Team Leader and Lab Manager.
Physical requirements
Combination of standing and sitting. Lifting up to 25 lbs.
