Resourceful and detail-oriented Paralegal/Litigation Assistant with strong experience supporting attorneys in personal injury matters — including auto accidents and traumatic events — as well as other areas of law. Skilled in managing cases through all phases of litigation, from investigation and client intake to trial preparation and settlement.
Committed to providing exceptional client service with compassion and professionalism, while coordinating effectively with attorneys, clients, insurance companies, and third parties. Compensation:
$22 hourly
Responsibilities:
- Manage all aspects of personal injury cases, including auto accidents and traumatic events, from initial client intake through trial preparation and settlement.
- Provide litigation support for a variety of legal matters.
- Work under the direction of attorneys to handle investigations, pleadings, discovery, depositions, mediations, and trial preparation.
- Act as the point of contact for clients, maintaining clear, compassionate communication, educating them on case progression, and setting appropriate expectations.
- Gather, organize, and analyze medical records, bills, and evidence to prepare detailed case summaries, demands, and settlement packages.
- Draft and file legal documents such as complaints, answers, motions, subpoenas, and discovery requests/responses, ensuring compliance with court rules and deadlines.
- Coordinate and schedule hearings, depositions, mediations, and trials, while managing the attorney’s calendar to avoid conflicts and ensure timely action.
- Monitor negotiations and settlement offers, escalate issues to the attorney as necessary, and help manage lien holders and insurance company communications.
- Maintain accurate and organized case files, billing records, and time tracking for each matter handled.
- Use practice management and e-filing systems proficiently to maintain up-to-date records and facilitate smooth workflow.
- Provide research support and assist with drafting documents for trusts, estates, and other civil matters outside of personal injury.
- Demonstrate excellent organizational skills, time management, and attention to detail in a high-paced, confidential environment.
Qualifications:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; professional and empathetic when working with clients affected by traumatic events.
- Understanding of legal language, court processes, research methods, and related legal matters.
- Strong organizational, time management, and analytical skills with the proven ability to meet strict deadlines.
- Ability to function well under pressure in a fast-paced litigation environment while maintaining confidentiality and exercising good judgment.
