JOB DESCRIPTION

Summary

The Supplier Quality Leader is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing Regal’s supplier quality strategy to ensure components and materials meet or exceed engineering, production, and customer expectations. This leadership role drives supplier performance improvement, fosters strong partnerships, and leads cross-functional initiatives to resolve quality concerns at the root cause. The Supplier Quality Leader will play a key role in maintaining Regal’s commitment to craftsmanship, performance, and continuous improvement.

  1. Lead Regal’s supplier quality program, establishing metrics, standards, and processes to ensure supplier-provided products meet Regal specifications and industry standards.
  2. Develop and maintain a Supplier Quality Scorecard to track performance, trends, and progress toward improvement.
  3. Coach and mentor internal quality team members and provide technical guidance to cross-functional partners.
  4. Collaborate with Procurement, Engineering, and Production to select, evaluate, and qualify suppliers.
  5. Lead the Discrepant Material Report (DMR) process, ensuring timely resolution of quality issues and recovery of costs where applicable.
  6. Oversee the Supplier Corrective Action Request (SCAR) process, driving timely, effective corrective and preventive actions.
  7. Facilitate Root Cause & Corrective Action (RCCA) investigations, ensuring systemic fixes and preventing recurrence.
  8. Conduct supplier audits and site visits to verify quality systems, manufacturing practices, and adherence to standards.
  9. Drive proactive supplier development initiatives, including training, capability building, and process improvement.
  10. Present supplier performance updates and key quality metrics to executive leadership.
  11. Lead weekly supplier quality meetings to address open issues, trends, and long-term improvement opportunities.
  12. Ensure compliance with ISO 9001 standards and other relevant quality frameworks.

Required Qualifications

  1. Strong knowledge of supplier quality management, manufacturing processes, and root cause analysis methodologies.
  2. Experience in leading teams and managing supplier relationships.
  3. Proven ability to analyze data, develop actionable insights, and present to senior leadership.
  4. Skilled in reading and interpreting engineering drawings and specifications.
  5. Familiarity with DMR, SCAR, RCCA, PPAP, FAI, or similar quality tools.
  6. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence and negotiate with internal and external stakeholders.
  7. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint); experience with ERP and quality management systems preferred.
  8. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality Management, Supply Chain, or related field.
  2. 5+ years of experience in a supplier quality leadership role.
  3. Experience in the marine, automotive, aerospace, or similar manufacturing environment.
  4. Knowledge of ISO 9001 or AS9100 standards.
  5. Experience leading supplier audits and implementing supplier development programs.
  6. Technical certifications such as Six Sigma, ASQ CQE, or CQA.

Work Environment
Must be able to work in a non-climate-controlled environment where ambient air temperature can exceed outside air temperature, reaching over 100 degrees Fahrenheit at times.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to bend at the waist and knees and stand for extended periods of time. The employee is frequently required to climb into and out of the boats using stairs. The employee must frequently be able to lift 50 pounds, work 10-hour days with most of the time being on their feet, and work overtime, whether planned or unplanned.
