This role focuses on ensuring a fintech company's compliance with Regulation E (Reg E), which governs electronic fund transfers and consumer protections in the US.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serving as a subject matter expert on Reg E and other relevant consumer financial regulations (e.g., Dodd-Frank, UDAAP).
  • Developing, implementing, and maintaining compliance policies, procedures, and internal controls specifically for products and services subject to Reg E, such as prepaid cards and other electronic funds transfers.
  • Reviewing and approving product features, marketing content, and customer communications for Reg E compliance.
  • Identifying and assessing compliance risks associated with Reg E and developing mitigation strategies.
  • Acting as a point of contact for regulatory inquiries and examinations related to Reg E, ensuring timely and accurate responses.
  • Developing and delivering training programs to educate employees across departments (product, engineering, marketing, etc.) on Reg E requirements and fostering a culture of compliance.
  • Overseeing debit card and ACH dispute processing and ensuring compliance with Reg E requirements and timelines related to disclosures, error resolution, and unauthorized transfers.
  • Working closely with legal, product, engineering, and other teams to embed compliance requirements into product development and operational processes.
  • Keeping abreast of changes to Reg E and other relevant regulations, industry best practices, and federal supervisory guidance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, law, or a related field; certifications like CRCM or CAMS are often preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in compliance, with a strong focus on Regulation E and experience with products like prepaid cards, debit cards, and electronic fund transfers.
  • Deep understanding of Reg E, Dodd-Frank, UDAAP, and other relevant consumer financial regulations.
  • Familiarity with compliance automation tools and technologies (RegTech) and the ability to work with engineers and product teams to embed compliance controls into systems.
  • Strong leadership skills, with the ability to manage and guide teams, along with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to assess complex regulatory requirements, identify risks, and develop effective solutions.
  • Meticulous attention to detail in reviewing documentation, analyzing processes, and ensuring accurate reporting.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
