We are seeking an experienced BICSI Registered Communications Distribution Designer (RCDD) to design, plan, and execute cutting-edge communication and security system projects. This role requires strong technical expertise, and the ability to collaborate with clients, engineers, and field teams.
As an RCDD, you will be responsible for designing and overseeing the installation and implementation of telecommunications and security systems. This includes structured cabling, access control, video surveillance (CCTV), and intrusion detection systems. You will ensure compliance with industry standards, coordinate project execution, and lead teams to deliver high-quality solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design – Develop detailed designs, one‐line diagrams, cable schedules, and bills of material for structured cabling (copper & fiber), wireless, and converged security networks in accordance with BICSI, ANSI/TIA, and NEC standards.
- Integrated Security Engineering – Specify and engineer access control, IP video surveillance (CCTV), and intrusion detection systems, ensuring seamless convergence with enterprise IT infrastructures.
- Field Verification & QA – Conduct site walks, surveys, and inspections; issue red‐lines and corrective action plans; witness factory and site acceptance testing to confirm performance against design intent.
- Project & Stakeholder Coordination – Lead multidisciplinary design reviews, advise estimators and project managers on scope and sequencing, and serve as the client‐facing subject‐matter expert throughout the project lifecycle.
- Technical Documentation – Produce technical submittals, test plans, commissioning scripts, and close‐out deliverables, maintaining complete and accurate project records.
- Mentorship & Leadership – Coach junior designers and field technicians, promote best practices, and foster a culture of safety, innovation, and continuous improvement.
Requirements:
- Current BICSI Registered Communications Distribution Designer (RCDD) certification.
- 2-5 years of experience with security and low-voltage system projects.
- Experience in structured cabling, fiber optics, networking protocols, and data communication standards.
- Strong technical knowledge of access control, intrusion detection, and video surveillance (CCTV) systems.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and project specifications.
- Proficiency in CAD and other design software.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; comfortable translating complex technical concepts for non‐technical stakeholders.
Preferred:
- Experience in estimating, proposing, and change orders.
- Working knowledge of OSHA safety standards.
