Job Summary/Objective:
The Journeyman Electrician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems within the wireless telecom and electric vehicle (EV) charging industries. This position requires a high level of expertise in electrical. The role involves working independently on complex electrical systems while ensuring compliance with industry standards, safety protocols, and local regulations.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Install, troubleshoot, maintain, and repair electrical systems for wireless telecom infrastructure, including base stations, antennas, and related equipment.
- Ensure that all electrical installations meet industry codes, safety standards, and local regulatory requirements.
- Manage the electrical components for wireless systems, including power supplies, grounding systems, and cable management.
- Complete necessary documentation for all projects, including compliance reports, inspection logs, and maintenance records.
- Perform inspections and diagnostics of electrical systems in both wireless telecom and EV charging applications, identifying and resolving any issues.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other team members to ensure timely and efficient project completion.
- Install and service electric vehicle (EV) charging stations, ensuring proper wiring, connections, and functionality.
- Supervise and mentor apprentice electricians, ensuring proper guidance and skill development for tasks related to wireless telecom and EV charging.
- Stay up to date on emerging technologies in wireless communication and EV charging, applying new knowledge to improve installations and service.
- Lead troubleshooting and repair efforts on complex electrical issues, especially in high-tech environments like telecom facilities and EV charging stations.
- Ensure that all safety protocols are followed on job sites, using personal protective equipment (PPE) and working in accordance with company safety guidelines.
Minimum Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Completion of an electrical apprenticeship program.
- A minimum of 8,000 hours of on-the-job training under the supervision of a Master Electrician.
- Valid Journeyman Electrician license or equivalent certification (passing the Journeyman Electrician examination highly preferred).
Additional Eligibility Qualifications:
- Valid driver’s license
- Significant hands-on experience in electrical installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
- Experience with wireless telecom infrastructure and/or electric vehicle charging stations is highly preferred. Previous experience in construction or electrical work.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including potential overtime and weekends.
- Must be able to work in various environments, including commercial and residential spaces, as well as outdoor locations.
Competencies Required:
- Expertise in electrical systems for wireless communication infrastructure, including base stations, antennas, and telecom equipment.
- Strong knowledge of electrical installations for electric vehicle (EV) charging stations.
- Excellent troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical blueprints, schematics, and technical documentation.
- Strong leadership and mentoring skills, with the ability to guide apprentice electricians.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with project teams and clients.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects.
- A solid commitment to safety, quality, and compliance with electrical codes and regulations.
- Ability to adapt to new technologies and industry advancements in wireless communication and EV charging.
Direct/Indirect Supervisory Responsibility:
- May supervise and mentor apprentice electricians, helping them gain the necessary skills and knowledge for future electrical work.
Work Environment/Physical Demands/Travel Required:
- Work is typically conducted in indoor and outdoor environments, including construction sites and technical facilities.
- May require travel to different job sites, both locally and regionally.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds, climb ladders, and work in confined spaces.
- Potential exposure to electrical hazards, requiring adherence to all safety protocols and use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Must be able to stand, walk, and move for extended periods of time.
