The Collection/Foreclosure Paralegal supports attorneys in managing substantive legal matters related to collections, foreclosure, bankruptcy, and bank actions. This role ensures strict compliance with the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) and applicable Florida statutes, including the Condominium Act, Cooperative Act, and Homeowners' Association Act.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act and related state laws
  • Communicate professionally with delinquent owners via phone, email, and written correspondence
  • Process owner payments and prepare balance due letters, payoff letters, and estoppels
  • Review pre-collection notices, ledgers, and supporting documentation
  • Draft Notices of Intent to Lien, Notices of Intent to Foreclose, and record Liens
  • Prepare complaint packages and all foreclosure pleadings
  • Draft Stipulations for Settlement and Orders Ratifying Stipulations, as needed
  • Prepare Motions for Summary Judgment, affidavits of indebtedness, and affidavits of costs
  • Finalize attorney fee affidavits by confirming accuracy and estimating remaining fees
  • Prepare Notices of Hearing, Final Judgments, and Notices of Sale
  • Prepare cover letters to the court and assemble attorney hearing folders
  • Provide task direction and support to Team Assistants
  • Conduct Mortgage and Satisfaction Searches
  • Prepare Answers and Affirmative Defenses
  • Draft Motions for Case Management Conference, Notices of Trial, and Motions to Reschedule Sale
  • Prepare and generate all related Notices of Hearing
  • Prepare Notices of Appearance and Requests for Service
  • Compile Exhibits to Proofs of Claim
  • Prepare Notices of Change in Post-Petition Amounts

Required Skills & Abilities

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and internet-based systems
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent customer service and client-facing professionalism
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple deadlines
  • Detail-oriented, reliable, and deadline-driven
  • Team-oriented mindset with a willingness to support colleagues

Education & Experience

  • High School Diploma required; Bachelor's Degree preferred
  • 2 or more years of experience.
