Job Description

Job Description

Seeking a skilled Woodworker / Frame Maker to create high-quality, artisanal frames using a blend of old-world woodworking techniques and modern fabrication technology. This role is ideal for a craftsperson who takes pride in precision, detail, and timeless design and who enjoys working with both hand tools and contemporary equipment.

Our frames are not mass-produced commodities. They are integral to the finished mirror, requiring thoughtful construction, clean joinery, and a refined finish that reflects Friedman’s legacy of craftsmanship.

What You’ll Do

  • Handcraft custom and small-batch mirror frames using traditional woodworking methods

  • Execute precise joinery, shaping, sanding, and finishing to meet design and quality standards

  • Work with solid wood, veneers, and specialty substrates

  • Utilize modern tools and technology (CNC, routers, saws, sanders, jigs, fixtures) to support efficiency and consistency

  • Interpret drawings, dimensions, and design intent to produce accurate, high-quality frames

  • Collaborate with design and production teams to refine construction methods and improve repeatability

  • Maintain a clean, organized workspace that supports craftsmanship and quality

  • Inspect finished pieces to ensure structural integrity, visual consistency, and premium finish quality

What We’re Looking For

  • Proven experience as a woodworker, frame maker, cabinetmaker, or furniture maker

  • Strong understanding of traditional woodworking techniques and materials

  • Comfort working with both hand tools and modern shop equipment

  • High attention to detail and pride in finished work

  • Ability to work independently while meeting production timelines

  • Appreciation for design-driven, artisanal products

Bonus Skills (Not Required):

  • Experience with CNC-assisted woodworking

  • Background in furniture, framing, or architectural millwork

  • Finishing experience (stains, paints, sealers, distressing techniques)

Why This Role Is Different

  • Focus on craft and quality, not mass production

  • Work on design-forward, premium mirrors with visible results

  • Blend heritage techniques with modern technology

  • Be part of a team that values skill, precision, and pride of work
