CPH has an opening for the following position: Project Engineer
The Project Engineer I - Water/ Wastewater supports project management activities by providing technical and administrative support throughout the project’s lifecycle related to water and wastewater systems. This role involves assisting with project planning, design, and execution while gaining hand on experience in best engineering practices and project management. The Project Engineer I- Water/Wastewater is knowledgeable in engineering principles, construction operational phases, compliance and have strong organizational skills, and the ability to work in a team environment.


Duties Include:

  • Assist in the development of projects plans, including the scope of work, timeframe, and budget for a variety of water/wastewater and stormwater projects involving transmission, distribution, collection, treatment, storage, utility master planning, permitting and various engineering tasks.
  • Prepare and maintain documentation, including reports, drawings, and specifications.
  • Support in the design of hydraulic modeling including stormwater pre/post and advanced treatment and storage design along with water and sewer pumping systems and hydraulic water distribution modeling.
  • Travel to project sites to conduct inspections and quality control to maintain high standards.
  • Conduct research and analysis to support project design and development.
  • Ensure the design and engineering work complies with industry standards and regulations.
  • Assist in the preparation and evaluation of proposals and have the ability of interacting with clients in both public and private sector as well as other jurisdictional agencies.
  • Prepare and/or present progress reports, including updates on project status.
  • Stay up to date with engineering technology and industry standards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Requirements:

  • Proficiency in MS Office, including Word, Excel and Outlook and familiarity with Deltek Vision and Smartsheet or similar software’s platforms.
  • WaterCAD, ICPR experience is a plus.
  • Ability to exercise critical thinking and good independent judgement.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with a team.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively multi-task and work on multiple projects while adhering to project schedules and budgets.
  • Flexibility in work schedule to accommodate project deadlines.
  • Detail oriented, quality conscious, reliable and self-motivated.

Education and Experience:

  • B.S. in Engineering (Civil, Mechanical, electrical, or related field).
  • 0-2 years of experience in a similar role or relevant internship experience.
  • EI/EIT Certification or commitment to obtain within 1 year of hire.
  • Basic knowledge of engineering principles, project management, and industry standards.
