Job Description

Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Plumber / Pipefitter to join our construction team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in reading and interpreting isometric drawings, floor plans, and detail plans. This role involves the installation, layout, and support of plumbing systems—including copper, steel, and PVC piping—and coordination with project leadership to meet scheduling and material needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Interpret isometric drawings to determine pipe sizing and fitting layouts.
  • Read and work from floor plans to identify room locations, plumbing routes, and dimensions.
  • Utilize detail plans to understand equipment and fixture specifications.
  • Collaborate with the superintendent and site manager to coordinate work schedules.
  • Perform material take-offs and coordinate delivery of plumbing materials without the need for in-person supplier visits.

Installation & Technical Skills:

  • Install copper piping using soldering and press fittings; ensure proper support.
  • Thread and press steel piping with mega press fittings for gas equipment.
  • Measure, cut, and install PVC piping; determine correct cement and fitting type based on application (pressure vs. drainage/vent).
  • Identify and install proper pipe supports by material type and length:
  • Unistrut clamps
  • Suspension clamps
  • Straps and hangers
  • Clevis hangers
  • Construct hot water recirculation systems, including:
  • Pump selection and installation
  • Thermostatic valve placement and sizing
  • Pre-concrete drain installations, shower pan builds, and rainwater leader installations.
  • Layout and install sleeves, stub-outs, and fixture locations.
  • Install and insulate condensate piping.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience in commercial or residential plumbing.
  • Proficient in interpreting construction drawings, isometrics, and detail plans.
  • Strong understanding of plumbing codes and standards.
  • Knowledge of various piping systems and installation methods.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Valid plumbing license or certification (as required by local/state regulations).
  • OSHA 10 or 30 certification is a plus.

Work Environment:

  • Active construction sites
  • Occasional lifting, bending, and working from heights
  • Use of hand and power tools
  • PPE must be worn at all times on-site
