Milian, Swain & Associates, Inc. has been providing professional Civil, Environmental engineering and Utility management consulting services since 1989 to private and public sector clients in South Florida. MSA is currently under contract with the City of Hialeah- Department of Water & Sewers (“The City”) providing a variety of resident staff services. We are currently seeking a Resident Water and Sewer Construction Inspector to join the MSA staff at the City. the following experience to be considered:
Required Qualifications Experience
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- Four (4) or more years of general experience in civil infrastructure construction inspections including Two (2) or more years in Water and Sewer construction inspections (Water Distribution, Sanitary Sewer Collection, Transmission and Pumping Systems)
- Excellent written and oral communications skills required..
General Duties:
The Resident Water and Sewer Construction Inspector (“Inspector”) will be working full-time at a City-owned facility in Miami-Dade County. General duties and responsibilities include:
- Support the City’s engineering staff with construction inspection services for Water and Sanitary Sewer projects for compliance with approved construction documents and City Water and Sewer Construction standards.
- Perform daily construction inspections, shop drawings reviews,
- Witness Water and Sewer System requisite tests,
- Participate in construction meetings and coordination with site contractor and design consultants plus other field construction inspection services as required by the City.
- Adhere to City and MSA Policies and Procedures and utilize efficient technical and time-management skills to ensure adherence to schedule/deadlines established by the City and MSA.
Physical Requirements:
- Mobility and Stamina
- Ability to walk, stand, and move about on uneven terrain, construction debris, and rough ground for extended periods.
- Ability to temporarily access above/below ground structures to inspect work at various elevations.
- Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, and crouch when performing close-up inspections in tight or confined spaces.
- Visual and Auditory Acuity
- Must have sufficient visual acuity to read drawings, specifications, and observe construction activities in both daylight and low-light conditions.
- Must be able to hear alarms, construction equipment, and verbal instructions over jobsite noise.
- Strength and Lifting
- Ability to lift and carry up to 30 pounds occasionally (e.g., inspection equipment, tools, documents).
- Ability to hold and operate tools and instruments (e.g., measuring tape, digital camera, testing equipment) for periods of time.
- Environmental Tolerance
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions including heat, rain, humidity, or cold.
- Must be comfortable working around heavy machinery, noise, dust, and other typical jobsite conditions.
- Travel and Site Access
- Must be able to travel to and from remote or active construction sites, in company vehicles.
- Must be able to enter active construction zones and comply with site-specific safety requirements

Other compensation:
