Job DescriptionMinimum 1+ years deaf & hard of hearing experience required.

A full-time, in-person position is available for a Teacher specializing in Deaf and Hard of Hearing services within a K-12 educational setting located in Port Charlotte, FL. This itinerant role involves providing support district-wide, serving approximately 20 students on caseload. Of these students, 7 require monthly consults, with the remainder receiving direct services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver specialized instruction and support to students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing.
  • Conduct regular consultations for students requiring less frequent intervention.
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers, specialists, and families to develop Individualized Education Plans (IEPs).
  • Travel throughout the district to provide equitable access to services.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and progress reports.
  • Utilize assistive technology and communication strategies to enhance student learning.

Qualifications:

  • Valid certification in Teaching Students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing.
  • Experience working with K-12 students in a school or district setting.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently.
  • Familiarity with assistive technologies and accommodations specific to Deaf and Hard of Hearing learners.
  • Willingness to travel within the district regularly.

Location: Port Charlotte, FL in-person role requiring district-wide travel.
