POSITION TITLE: TRAINER- DENTAL

FLSA: NON-EXEMPT

Job Summary:

The Dental Trainer is responsible for developing and delivering training programs to new and existing dental staff, ensuring they are proficient in their roles and compliant with organizational policies and regulatory standards. This role focuses on training related to dental workflows, infection control, and the use of electronic dental records. The Dental Trainer also plays a key role in updating training materials, monitoring training effectiveness, and providing temporary coverage when necessary. Supervisory Responsibilities:

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Identify training needs for new and existing dental staff and create targeted training programs to meet those needs.
  • Conduct training sessions in the practice management system and electronic dental records specific to dental workflows.
  • Provide on-site instruction and support for dental staff responsibilities, including front office and clinical workflows.
  • Develop and update training manuals and materials for all dental staff.
  • Monitor and document training activities using the Relias Learning Management System.
  • Administer and document competency assessments to evaluate staff performance and training effectiveness.
  • Provide ongoing development, troubleshooting, and updates for both new and existing employees.
  • Offer temporary coverage for Dental Assistants and Dental Front Office Coordinators as directed by the Training and Development Supervisor, Clinic Administrators or Clinic Director.
  • Assist the Dental Practice Manager in maintaining the Hazard Communication Program and ensuring adherence to OSHA guidelines.
  • Train staff on infection control procedures and ensure proper documentation is maintained.
  • Incorporate current regulatory standards and best practices into training programs.
  • Participate in seminars, committees, and training sessions to stay informed about advancements in the dental field.
  • Integrate relevant updates into training programs to ensure staff are equipped with current knowledge and skills.
  • Collaborate with leadership to enhance training effectiveness and consistency.
  • Travel locally as needed to deliver on-site training and support across multiple locations.
  • Perform additional tasks as needed to support the centers.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in practice management systems (e.g., eCW, EPIC, etc.) and electronic medical records (EMR).
  • Strong instructional, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of OSHA guidelines, infection control practices, and clinical workflows.
  • Ability to evaluate training effectiveness and implement improvements.
  • Competency in using learning management systems (e.g., Relias).
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate.
  • Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.
  • Must be able to effectively manage workflow and maintain high-quality standards in environments where staffing levels may be below ideal, demonstrating the ability to prioritize tasks and collaborate with the team under pressure.
  • Ability to use office equipment, including computers, copy machines, fax machines, telephones, calculators, and more.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, Electronic Medical Records (EMR) and related software.

Education and Experience:

  • High School diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Certified in Dental Radiology and Dental Assisting in compliance with Florida Department of Professional Regulations requirements.
  • Certified in Expanded Dental Duties is preferred.
  • BLS is required within 3 months of hire.
  • Skilled in four-handed dentistry and chairside assisting is preferred.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
  • Must be able to travel to various center locations as required.
  • Potential onsite and remote hybrid work schedule after indtroductary period.
