JOB SUMMARY
This position is responsible for the monitoring and overseeing of the entire golf operation at the club.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
- Hire, train, schedule and supervise pro shop personnel including assistant golf professionals, pro shop attendants, golf cart attendants and player assistants. Directs the daily operations of the pro shop ensuring accurate records. Maintains the accounting for the pro shop.
- Gives quality golf lessons to include individual and group lessons.
- Manages the cash flow in the golf shop, ensuring that cash and credit card charges balance with sales receipts in accordance with operating procedures.
- Ensures golf shop is appropriately stocked, clean, safe and tidy.
- Works with members and guests; assists them with their golfing needs; handles their requests, complaints and inquires with composure and in a timely professional manner.
- Develops programs to promote the interest in the sport of golf and the use of the course.
- Plans, organizes and conducts golf tournaments for members and outside organizations.
- Manages the golf associations/leagues for the course.
- Prepares annual budget for golf operations and strives to achieve sales targets.
- Maintains accurate records of green fees and cart rentals.
- Ensures the golf cart fleet is well maintained and cleaned on a daily basis. 12. Manages, maintains and makes recommendations for merchandise appropriate to the facility demographic.
- Completes high quality custom fitting and club repairs to customer satisfaction.
- Gathers, processes and submits payroll information for the golf department timely and accurately; maintains employee files and records.
- Devotes a reasonable amount of time to play golf with members of all skill levels.
- Demonstrates continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround time, streamline work processes and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality customer service.
- Maintains the confidentiality of company, employee and member/guest information.
- Attends and actively participates in regularly scheduled staff meetings.
- Demonstrates a commitment to the work and success of the club and the Company by being service- and solution-oriented, having positive interactions with all club staff and members/guests, and meeting established quality, service and safety expectations.
- Performs additional assignments per the direction of club or Company managers.
Requirements:
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

- Has knowledge of the organization and management of a pro shop.
- Understands the rules of golf, the equipment used and golf tournament organization.
- Has knowledge of practice facility operation and management.
- Effective communication skills orally and in writing.
- Able to provide a high level of customer service with attention to detail.
- Proficient with common MS Office computer programs and experience with POS systems.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- High School diploma, GED or equivalent
- A member of the Professional Golf Association (PGA) or the Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA)
- 3 years experience as either a Head Golf Professional or the first assistant to a Head Golf Professional.
WORK HOURS AND CONDITIONS
Work hours may include early mornings and evenings on weekdays, weekends and holidays. Subject to inside and outside environmental conditions. May be exposed to inclement (non-threatening) weather, plant protection products, fertilizers, misdirected golf balls, and sharp and rapid equipment movement on a daily basis. Injury may result from exposure to the above if safety policies and practices are not properly followed.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Seeing and hearing: read documents, computer screen, answer phones, communicate in person 50-100%
- Standing and walking 25-50%
- Climbing, stooping, squatting and kneeling 0-24%
- Dexterity: utilizing phone, typing, writing, driving and manipulation of golf clubs 50-100%
- Lift in excess of 30 pounds 0-24%
