About the Role:
The Mental Health Technician (MHT) at Larkin Community Hospital plays a critical role in supporting the mental health and well-being of patients within a multidisciplinary healthcare environment. This position involves direct patient care, observation, and assistance in therapeutic activities to promote recovery and safety. The role requires vigilance, empathy, and strong communication skills to effectively manage patient needs and respond to crises. Ultimately, the MHT contributes to the overall goal of improving patient outcomes and enhancing the quality of mental health services at Larkin Community Hospital.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Experience working with individuals with mental health disorders or in a healthcare setting.
- Ability to pass background checks and comply with hospital policies.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in a psychiatric or behavioral health facility.
- Bilingual abilities to support diverse patient populations.
Responsibilities:
- Participates in shift report by listening actively and clarifying patient care instructions with Charge Nurse.
- Monitors and records vital signs (TPR, height, weight, I&O and BP) accurately and within time frames.
- Attends to the Activities of Daily Living of patients by assisting and/or supervising.
- Serves Meals, monitoring and recording dietary habits.
- Intervenes as appropriate with dietary needs and records intake of form, as instructed.
