Job Description:
We are excited to announce an opening for a full-time Dental Assistant at our bustling dental practice located in Oviedo, FL. This is not a remote job, and it requires on-site presence to efficiently support our dental staff and ensure optimal patient care. Our ideal candidate would be someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is committed to providing exceptional support in various dental procedures.
Responsibilities:
- Assist the dentist during a variety of treatment procedures.
- Set up and breakdown operatory post treatment.
- Sterilize and disinfect instruments and equipment.
- Prepare the instruments and materials required to treat each patient.
- Obtain patients’ dental records.
- Take dental X-rays and, if qualified, provide other diagnostic information (Note: Certification required for X-rays).
- Provide patients with instructions for oral care following surgery or other dental treatment procedures, such as the placement of a restoration (filling).
- Teach patients appropriate oral hygiene strategies to maintain oral health; (e.g., tooth brushing, flossing and nutritional counseling).
- Help patients feel comfortable before, during, and after dental treatment.
- Provide support to dentists, hygienists, and other staff as needed.
- Maintain a clean and well-organized work environment.
- Manage dental supply inventory and ensure all necessary tools are within easy reach for the dentist during procedures.
Qualifications:
- Completion of a Dental Assistant program accredited by the Dental Assisting National Board (DANB).
- Certification in radiography/X-ray as per state requirements.
- Certification in CPR or Basic Life Support (BLS), preferred but not mandatory.
- Minimum of one year experience as a Dental Assistant preferred; however, recent graduates are welcome to apply.
- Strong understanding and knowledge of dental procedures, instruments, and sanitization standards.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and remain calm under pressure.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with patients and dental team.
- High degree of professionalism and a strong work ethic.
- Commitment to the comprehensive care and comfort of all patients.
- A proactive and efficient approach with the ability to anticipate the needs of the dentist during treatment procedures.
