Job Description:

We are excited to announce an opening for a full-time Dental Assistant at our bustling dental practice located in Oviedo, FL. This is not a remote job, and it requires on-site presence to efficiently support our dental staff and ensure optimal patient care. Our ideal candidate would be someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is committed to providing exceptional support in various dental procedures.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist the dentist during a variety of treatment procedures.
  • Set up and breakdown operatory post treatment.
  • Sterilize and disinfect instruments and equipment.
  • Prepare the instruments and materials required to treat each patient.
  • Obtain patients’ dental records.
  • Take dental X-rays and, if qualified, provide other diagnostic information (Note: Certification required for X-rays).
  • Provide patients with instructions for oral care following surgery or other dental treatment procedures, such as the placement of a restoration (filling).
  • Teach patients appropriate oral hygiene strategies to maintain oral health; (e.g., tooth brushing, flossing and nutritional counseling).
  • Help patients feel comfortable before, during, and after dental treatment.
  • Provide support to dentists, hygienists, and other staff as needed.
  • Maintain a clean and well-organized work environment.
  • Manage dental supply inventory and ensure all necessary tools are within easy reach for the dentist during procedures.

Qualifications:

  • Completion of a Dental Assistant program accredited by the Dental Assisting National Board (DANB).
  • Certification in radiography/X-ray as per state requirements.
  • Certification in CPR or Basic Life Support (BLS), preferred but not mandatory.
  • Minimum of one year experience as a Dental Assistant preferred; however, recent graduates are welcome to apply.
  • Strong understanding and knowledge of dental procedures, instruments, and sanitization standards.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and remain calm under pressure.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with patients and dental team.
  • High degree of professionalism and a strong work ethic.
  • Commitment to the comprehensive care and comfort of all patients.
  • A proactive and efficient approach with the ability to anticipate the needs of the dentist during treatment procedures.
