Team Member Responsibilities
- Organizes construction documents from beginning to end with little to minor direction.
- Demonstrates understanding of codes and regulatory requirements for design.
- Performs thorough quality control of construction documents.
- Maintains file management of AutoCAD files and other documents.
- Ensures compliance with company CAD standards within the scope of assigned projects.
- Produces and completes utility alignments and profiles.
- Prepares layout site plans from basic concept to final.
- Performs/Reviews earthworks design for cut/fill optimization, site grading and stormwater drainage design, access roads and crossing design.
- Prepares/Reviews stormwater management plans including design of retention and detention ponds and controlled discharge outlets.
- Develops/Reviews Stormwater Management Reports and Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPP) to support regulatory permits.
- Performs/Reviews stormwater management design, hydrologic and hydraulic modelling, on-site and off-site stormwater management designs and perform pre-development and post development stormwater analysis.
- Performs erosion and sedimentation control designs and implements Best Management Practices (BMPs).
- Develops and prepares reports, planning studies, specifications, detailed design drawings, and construction submittal reviews calculations, models and other technical deliverables.
- Prepares/Reviews project cost estimates, bid documentation and performs bid evaluation.
- Coordinates with project manager, discipline leads, inter-discipline teams, high value engineering centers, clients, regulatory entities, vendors and sub-contractors.
Team Member Skills
- Proficient in AutoCAD Civil 3D.
- Relevant software programs may also include StormCAD, Auto Turn and GIS. Experience with stormwater modeling using ICPR is desirable but not required.
- Knowledge and skills required includes codes and design standards specific to local geographic market including agencies.
- Ability to work efficiently in a high-volume, deadline-driven team environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to read technical drawings and construction plans and manuals.
- Ability to perform all aspects of design (grading, streets, water, sewer, storm drain, hydrology, erosion control, etc.) with an emphasis on technical and project delivery excellence.
- Sound knowledge of industry practice and demonstrated commitment to excellence in customer service.
- Experience with both private and public sector clients/projects.
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize and multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent oral, written and graphic communication skills, including computer literacy in Civil3D, Hydrology / Hydraulic design software, MS Office. (Experience with Microstation is an asset).
- Direct experience in client management and business development is an asset.
This position requires a high level of proficiency in CAD software and the ability to create accurate technical drawings. The CAD Drafter will work closely with engineers, architects, and designers to translate design concepts into functional drawings. Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and effective communication are essential for success in this role.
