Position Summary:
The Check-Out Receptionist is responsible for greeting patients as they check-out and offer them friendly and prompt assistance while coordinating the patients care. The Check-Out Receptionist will review the provider’s orders to determine the necessary treatment plan. At checkout follow up appointments are scheduled with the patient. Either appointments are scheduled, or arrangements are made for diagnostic testing. Orders, notes and prescriptions are printed or provided.
Summary of General Duties:
Greet patients in a friendly manner while performing the checkout process
· Provides instructions for procedures in a clear concise manner to the patient
· Schedule patient appointments within operational standards, provide patient with appointment card
· Write the orders for diagnostic testing and labs, fax to appropriate facility
· Obtain authorizations when needed
· Place imaging orders for follow up appointments that are out 6 months to a year
· Fax dictations to requesting referring and primary care doctors for all new patients and established patients that have been cc’d to a specific doctor.
· Follow the release of information that follows the HIPAA guidelines to release medical records
· Scan documents.
· Fax and receive documents
· Complete all tasks within the timelines established by the practice.
· Keep Check-Out Desk clean and neat.
· Answers the telephone in a warm, friendly manner within 3 rings
· Obtains accurate and complete information for hospital consults and forwards to the appropriate person
· Maintains patient confidentiality.
· Maintains clean lobby area
· Secures lobby doors at the end of the day
· Perform other duties as assigned or requested.
