Education

  • Certificate or Registry of Diagnostic Imaging accredited program

Experience / Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of relative experience, ARRT or ARDMS registered, 3+ years’ experience in Breast Imaging with Ultrasound
  • American Heart Association BLS for Health Care Provider
  • Proficient computer skills
  • Excellent communication skills both verbally and in writing

Position Summary

The Lead Technologist assists in the daily operation of the Ultrasound department. Ensures prompt and efficient flow of patients through the department coordinating testing procedures with other modalities.

  • The Lead Technologist performs necessary quality assurance tests and monitors overall quality of exams performed daily.
  • Assists in maintaining accurate records of technical staff to assure all licensure requirements are fulfilled.
  • Assists in maintaining logs for maintenance of equipment and schedules service when necessary.
  • Assists with maintaining quality control standards. Maintains inventory levels and assures that sufficient quantities of supplies are on hand at all times.
  • The Lead Sonographer manages and performs all abdominal, gynecological, obstetrical, small parts, peripheral vascular and cerebrovascular ultrasound examinations.
  • The Lead sonographer has an excellent comprehension and knowledge of anatomy and disease and can communicate this to the Radiologist.
  • The Lead Sonographer is trained in the appropriate use of color Doppler techniques and other advanced imaging techniques.
  • The Lead Sonographer is capable of working independently to obtain all necessary clinical information for the Radiologist to make a diagnosis.

Physical Requirement

This job can be physically demanding at times requiring stooping, sitting, standing, and walking for long periods of time. The team member will need to frequently assist lifting patients and heavy equipment. Must be able to work in a stressful environment, work independently, making sound decisions, detail oriented, alert and self-motivated. Ability to push/pull up to 40lbs, carry and lift up to 50lbs.

  • These threshold requirements are required and completed yearly basis
    • Annual Joint Commission mandatory education requirements, in-service and health requirements including attendance at new employee orientation
    • TB/PPD Surveillance Program
    • Maintenance of required professional licensing and/or certification(s).
