The Certified Roofing Contractor/Licensed Roofing Contractor is responsible for overseeing, installing, repairing, and maintaining residential and commercial roofing systems. This role requires full compliance with state licensing regulations, building codes, and safety standards. The contractor manages projects from inspection through completion, ensures quality workmanship, and may supervise roofing crews and subcontractors.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, repair, and replace a variety of roofing systems including shingle, tile, metal, and flat roofs
- Inspect roofs to assess condition, identify damage, and recommend appropriate solutions
- Ensure all work complies with state and local building codes, licensing requirements, and safety regulations
- Obtain permits, schedule inspections, and ensure project approvals
- Supervise roofing crews and subcontractors to ensure quality and efficiency
- Estimate project costs, materials, labor, and timelines
- Communicate with clients regarding scope of work, timelines, and progress updates
- Maintain job-site safety and OSHA compliance
- Review and approve completed work for quality and accuracy
- Handle warranty documentation and project closeout
Qualifications & Requirements
- Active Certified Roofing Contractor License/Licensed Roofing Contractor (state-issued)
- Proven experience in residential and/or commercial roofing
- Strong knowledge of roofing materials, installation methods, and repair techniques
- Ability to read blueprints, specifications, and inspection reports
- Familiarity with local building codes and permitting processes
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills
- Strong leadership and crew management abilities
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
Preferred Skills
- Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously
- Knowledge of insurance claims and storm damage assessments
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- Estimating and project management experience
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Ability to climb ladders, work at heights, and lift heavy materials
- Must adhere to all safety guidelines and wear required protective equipment
