Duties & Responsibilities:
- Saw aluminum, copper, steel and other materials to specified measurements
- Check and refill coolant in machines
- Complete house-keeping duties in the shop and office: pour chips into collection dumpster, sweeps and mops floors
- Maintain record of stock material
- Read and interpret prints
- Report material shortages, and equipment defects and damage
- Positions parts and subassemblies by using templates or reading measurements
- Assembles components- i.e. PEM hardware, dowel pins, heli-coil, etc.
- Performs part marking, as needed
- Maintains a safe and clean work environment
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Must be at least 18 years old
- Basic math and shop math as it applies to detailed prints and sketches
- Ability to learn/understands cuts and yields
- Ability to stack material properly
- Ability to maintain tolerances
- Ability to use precision instruments, such as micrometers, calipers, press, drills and other shop equipment
- Tap hole cutting experience preferred
Education & Experience:
- Related experience as a shop assistant and/or assembling electronics housings, aerospace components and subassemblies preferred
Physical Requirements:
- May be required to push, pull, lift and/or carry up to 50 lbs
- Involves extended periods of standing, walking
- Involves reaching with hands and arms, crouching and balancing
- Good manual dexterity to work with small parts and tools
- Excellent eye-hand coordination
