We’re looking for a reliable, safety-minded team member to support our maintenance operations by assisting with tree and weed removal, litter collection, and general clean-up throughout County-maintained areas. This is a hands-on, entry-level role with steady hours, meaningful work, and a supportive team environment.
Responsibilities
- Assist with tree and weed removal and general litter control along County rights-of-way.
- Perform light maintenance and minor repairs on assigned equipment.
- Complete required paperwork, including work reports, equipment logs, checklists, and time sheets.
- Conduct daily pre-trip equipment inspections and document findings accurately.
- Track and record daily mileage, areas covered, and tonnage collected.
- Attend required safety trainings, classes, and meetings.
- Follow all safety and health procedures to maintain a safe work environment.
- Support emergency preparedness efforts and post-event clean-up when needed.
- Assist with cleaning and maintaining departmental buildings and office areas.
- Provide friendly, professional customer service to the public and fellow County employees.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships across departments.
- Uphold the organization’s core values in all daily activities.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Two (2) years of driving experience.
- At least six (6) months of experience as a lead worker or an equivalent combination of experience and education.
- Valid Florida driver’s license (required at time of hire and throughout employment).
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Strong written communication skills for preparing routine reports.
- Ability to communicate clearly with customers and coworkers.
- Basic math skills (add, subtract, multiply, divide using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals).
- Ability to follow written, oral, and diagram-based instructions.
- Problem-solving skills in standardized work situations.
- Good judgment when using tools, equipment, and materials.
- Ability to stay calm in stressful or potentially hazardous situations.
- Strong teamwork mindset with a willingness to assist others and contribute to overall team goals.
- Ability to lead others and explain work procedures if assigned as a lead worker.
